Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Quality Inspector – Electrical to inspect and monitor electrical installation, testing, and commissioning activities. The role ensures that all work complies with approved drawings, project specifications, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), applicable codes, vendor requirements, and quality procedures.

The successful candidate will coordinate inspections with construction teams, subcontractors, clients, and third-party representatives while maintaining accurate quality records through project completion and handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct electrical inspections and witness tests according to approved ITPs, procedures, specifications, and drawings.
  • Inspect cable trays, conduits, supports, underground stub-ups, cable trenches, and cable installations.
  • Verify cable segregation, routing, glanding, termination, dressing, identification, and final torqueing.
  • Witness insulation resistance, continuity, high-potential, polarization index, and other applicable cable tests.
  • Inspect the installation and preservation of transformers, switchgear, MCCs, bus ducts, UPS systems, batteries, chargers, motors, and distribution boards.
  • Witness electrical tests such as insulation resistance, high-potential, ductor, operational, dielectric, and functional tests.
  • Inspect earthing and lightning-protection systems, including electrodes, underground cables, joints, and connections.
  • Witness earth resistance, earth-loop resistance, and continuity testing.
  • Inspect lighting systems, sockets, junction boxes, distribution boards, lighting circuits, and associated functional tests.
  • Inspect electrical installations associated with motors, local control stations, heat-tracing systems, cathodic-protection systems, generators, and HVAC equipment.
  • Monitor electrical equipment installation to ensure compliance with manufacturers’ recommendations.
  • Perform hazardous-area electrical inspections in accordance with applicable requirements, including IEC 60079-14 and IEC 60079-17.
  • Verify equipment certification, labelling, protection methods, and IP ratings.
  • Coordinate RFIs and site inspections with construction teams, subcontractors, clients, and third-party inspectors.
  • Review inspection reports, test records, material certificates, method statements, and supporting quality documentation.
  • Ensure the timely completion and closure of RFIs, ITRs, QC instructions, punch items, and inspection test packages.
  • Identify non-conformances, issue NCRs, and support the development and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Monitor the calibration status and condition of inspection, testing, and measuring equipment.
  • Conduct daily site surveillance and participate in quality walkthroughs.
  • Report inspection results, outstanding issues, and daily quality performance to the relevant Quality or Discipline Lead.
  • Ensure compliance with project health, safety, and environmental requirements.

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience as an Electrical QC Inspector.
  • Proven electrical inspection experience in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry.
  • Previous experience working with a major EPC contractor or its subcontractors.
  • Strong experience reviewing electrical drawings, specifications, ITPs, ITRs, RFIs, method statements, and vendor documentation.
  • Practical knowledge of cable systems, switchgear, transformers, MCCs, motors, earthing, lighting, UPS systems, bus ducts, and electrical testing.
  • Documented hazardous-area training and relevant experience are required when conducting Ex inspections.
  • Ability to work at project sites, including demanding construction environments.
