MK Magnetics (www.mkmagnetics.com) specializes in the production of custom and standard tape wound soft magnetic cores for transformers and inductors.  All the cores we sell are manufactured on site in Adelanto, California in a modern 75,000 sqft facility specially designed and built for manufacturing tape wound magnetic cores.

Working in accordance with the established policies and procedures, the Impregnation Worker is responsible for preparing cores to get placed in impregnation tank.

Responsibilities: 

  • Prepares cores, per process sheet or instruction, for placement in impregnation tank.
  • Breaks cores to loosen laminates.
  • Removes mandrels from cores for pre-test, replaces after test, when required.
  • Removes mandrels, coat in release agent, replaces when required.
  • Places cores in containers to be placed in impregnation tank; or places cores directly into tank, physically or using overhead crane.
  • Transfers resin mixture from holding tank to impregnation tank and back to holding tank; releasing vapors before opening tank; using hand valves.
  • Transfers chemicals from 55-gallon drum to safety container following safety procedures.
  • Uses block and hammer to flatten laminates.
  • Places impregnated cores onto metal sheets; shim and rack when required.
  • Cleans toroids using MEK and rags, when required.
  • Uses forklift to move cores and mandrels.
  • Knocks out mandrels using block and hammer, knock-out presses, or steel rods.
  • Sets oven temperature and timer for curing of cores.
  • Inspects work in progress to confirm parts are being built to specifications; returning part to previous department to re-work, if needed or verifying parts are in compliance before passing on to next department.
  • Logs oven time and chemical usage as required by MDAQMD.
  • Disposes of hazardous waste into proper containers with label affixed for type of material and hazard.
  • Labels secondary containers per Hazardous Communication Plan.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

 Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent with minimum one experience in a manufacturing environment, preferred.
  • Knowledge in Mathematics such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percents, etc.
  • Able to work with hand and power tools used in manufacturing work; especially tools used for measurement, preferred.
  • Experience in chemical handling and safety procedures, preferred.
  • Experience in forklifts, cranes, hoists, and other material handling equipment, preferred.
  • Knowledge in using calipers, scales and other precision tools used to measure.
  • Read and understand process sheets.
  • Pass forklift certification written and practical tests.
  • Able to learn the principles of fire extinguishers and when and how to use them in a fire situation.
