Job DetailsJob Location: AKRON, OH 44306Summary/Objective Landmark Plastic, a leading manufacturer of plastic products used in the horticulture industry is looking for a Machine Technician. This position is responsible for processing and maintaining the overall operation of the machine for a quality product produced in a timely manner according to standards. Major Work Duties Essential Job Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions: Load an extruded roll of plastic, per specs, onto the bed of the machine. Feed raw material into the former, I-press, and Trim press.   Diagnose production problems and resolve. Be able to recommend corrective action to Maintenance or Crew Leader., if needed. Perform minor maintenance and troubleshoot auxiliary equipment, and material handling systems. Monitor and control product weight, product color, and product part thickness. Reduce mold change and set-up time. Optimize machine cycle times. Develop and document mold set-up procedures. Assist with set-ups, start-ups and preventative maintenance, as needed. Understand and operate all heat, and cooling systems. Understand Thermoforming schedule and adjust roll production to pounds required. Monitors production. Operate material handling equipment. Assist Quality Control by making the necessary corrective action. Ensure proper notes, of any irregularities. Report and work closely with the shift supervisor, with regards to packer requirement and their needs. Will be required to scan new rolls, into QAD system. Check gauges at roll change. Take empty racks back to the Extruding dept, and for future use, and place in designated area. Assist with overall housekeeping, of the department, and place appropriate items back in designated area. Perform all shift change responsibilities. Stop Thermoforming line in the event of an emergency. Report any and all potential safety related issues. Ability and knowledge on how to use general hand tools. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Proper PPE is required. Potential to be very hot in the summer months and cold during the winter. Physical Demands In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, the following have been identified as physical requirements of the job: The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50-75 pounds. The employee is frequently required to sit or stand for long periods of time and walk distances, as well as stoop, bend, kneel and crouch.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, reach or feel and manipulate objects or controls. Must be able to work in fumes and odors. (non-hazardous) Must be able to work in loud areas and wear hearing protection. Must be able to work with oils, grease and dust, with limited personal protection (safety glasses, gloves, etc.) QualificationsQualifications: Responsibility for output for Thermoforming Lines including but not limited to:: Lyle’s In-Line Thermoformers,, Lyle’s I-Press, Lyle’s Trim Presses. Tow motor (requires Landmark Training and License) Small capacity trim scrap grinder. Ability to learn our MRP system, QAD and backflushing. Knowledge of basic math skills along with some more complex formulas including measurements. Must demonstrate mechanical reasoning skills and ability. Must have excellent deductive reasoning and troubleshooting skills. Must correctly practice all safety procedures. High School Education or GED preferred. Basic hand tool knowledge. Excellent time management and the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities. Strong team player with excellent problem solving and decision-making skills. Great attitude and a willingness to learn.
