Nestled in Alameda, Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School (SJND) is a Catholic, college preparatory high school committed to developing confident, compassionate leaders who live lives of faith, scholarship, and service. 

Position Summary

The Boys' Junior Varsity Soccer Head Coach leads the junior varsity program while supporting the philosophy and goals of the varsity soccer program. The coach develops student-athletes through instruction, mentorship, and competition while promoting the mission and values of SJND. 

This seasonal position is appointed annually by the Athletic Director in consultation with the Varsity Head Coach. 

Reporting Relationships

• Reports to the Varsity Head Coach and Athletic Director.

Essential Responsibilities

• Uphold and model the mission and Catholic values of SJND.
• Plan and lead all JV practices, games, and team activities.
• Teach soccer fundamentals, strategy, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.
• Prepare student-athletes for success at the varsity level.
• Foster the academic, athletic, social, and personal development of players. 
• Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, assistant coaches, and school staff.
• Maintain safe practice and game environments.
• Manage equipment, uniforms, and end-of-season inventories.
• Complete required game reports and attend Athletic Department meetings.
• Comply with SJND, CIF, NCS, and league policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Varsity Head Coach or Athletic Director.

Qualifications

• Previous soccer coaching experience preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of soccer techniques, rules, and player development.
• CPR/First Aid/AED certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Completion of required SJND, CIF, and NCS coaching certifications.
• Ability to pass required background screening.
