Our Mission

Nestled in Alameda, Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School (SJND) is a Catholic, college preparatory high school committed to developing confident, compassionate leaders who live lives of faith, scholarship, and service. 

Position Summary

The Co-Ed Head Swim Coach provides leadership for the SJND swim program by developing student-athletes in a competitive, positive, and faith-filled environment. The coach is responsible for planning and leading practices and meets, promoting academic and personal growth, and supporting the mission and values of SJND. 

This seasonal position is appointed annually by the Co-Athletic Director. 

Reporting Relationships

• Reports to the Co-Athletic Director. 

Essential Responsibilities

• Uphold and model the mission and Catholic values of SJND.

• Plan and lead all practices, meets, and team activities.

• Teach fundamental and advanced swimming techniques while promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership.

• Foster the academic, athletic, social, and personal growth of student-athletes.

• Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, assistant coaches, and the Athletic Department.

• Maintain a safe practice and competition environment.

• Coordinate equipment, uniforms, and facility needs.

• Complete required game reports, inventories, and end-of-season evaluations.

• Attend Athletic Department meetings and comply with SJND, CIF, NCS, and league policies.

• Assist with program growth, admissions events, and other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

• Previous swimming coaching experience preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of competitive swimming techniques and rules.
• CPR/First Aid/AED certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Completion of all required SJND, CIF, and NCS coaching certifications.
• Ability to pass required background screening.
