About the Role: 
  • Design & Development: Create mechanical and opto-mechanical designs for optical assemblies, mounts, housings, and alignment features, ensuring manufacturability and performance.
  • Analysis & Simulation: Use CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) to model assemblies; perform tolerance and sensitivity analyses; perform first order structural and thermal analysis.
  • Testing & Validation: Build, align, and test optical modules; develop and execute test plans; perform component reliability and qualification testing.
  • Documentation: Prepare detailed drawings, assembly instructions, alignment procedures, and test reports.
  • Collaboration: Work with optical, mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to integrate systems and meet interface requirements.
  • Prototyping: Assist in prototyping and fielding systems, supporting transition from R&D to production-ready designs.


Requirements

ď‚· Experience with Solidworks/PDM/PLM(Arena preferred) software.
 Previous work experience in a “distributed work environment” where there is a combination of
remote and on-site employees.
ď‚· Familiarization of Drafting Standards, GD&T, and Documentation Requirements
ď‚· Knowledge of Mechanical Requirements specific to design for Space Environments.
ď‚· Ability to interpret data, troubleshoot design issues, and optimize performance of designs and
hardware.
ď‚· Basic understanding of Manufacturing processes including: Metal Fabrication, Electrical
Assembly, Optical Assembly, Mechanical Assembly.
ď‚· Motivated to learn and grow through on the job training. Be energized to jump in and assist
when needed.
ď‚· Min BS in ME with 2-5 years of applicable work experience.
