JOBSUMMARY
The Cashier will be responsible for the movement ofgoods purchased by customers pass the checkout point and the securing of theCompanies cash until it is collected at the appropriate time.
Cashiers in General Pool
· Greet customers enteringthe department.
· Receive payment by cash,check, credit/debit cards, vouchers.
· Scan products and operatescanning equipment
· Ensure tills are securelylocked if there is no cashier at the station.
· Issue receipts, refunds,credits, or change due to customers.
· Process merchandisereturns and exchanges.
· Ensure that all creditsare authorized and signed by a manager.
· Prepare quotations forcustomers and ensure that all are signed by a manager
· Answer customers’ questionsand provide information on procedures or policies.
· Resolve customercomplaints.
· Count money in cashdrawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and thatthere is adequate change.
· Carefully examine cashreceived to ensure that it is not counterfeit.
· Examine checks to ensurethat correct dates and amounts are written and that all checks are signed.
· Examine items that arebeing cashed to ensure that they are coded and priced correctly.
· Report discrepancies inprices and codes immediately to the Assistant Manager.
· Maintain clean andorderly checkout areas.
· Monitor levels of cash intills to ensure that there are no excessive amounts.
· Report all excessiveamounts to the Accounts Department for immediate lodgment at the bank.
· Post charges againstcustomer’s accounts.
· Stock shelves, and markprices on shelves and items when needed.
· Prepare quotations percustomers’ requests.
· Count the cash in drawerat the end of the day, ensuring cash equals receipts.
· Inform customers aboutservices available and assess their needs.
· Assist with inventorycounts.
Cashiers at contractor’s sales
Dutiesinclude all of the above, along with the following:
· Process sale ofmerchandise to contractors.
· Prepare duty freequotations
· Prepare duty-freetransactions, both cash and charge.
· Accepting and processingpayment on accounts.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
· Physically able to engage in repetitive handmovements, reaching shelves of varying heights, stoop, bend and kneelfrequently.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
· Successful passes in at least 6 CXCsubjects including English and Mathematics.
· Previous experience using apoint-of-sale system.
· Previous experience as a Cashier.
