DBS: Enhanced DBS Required

Summary


We are looking for a seasoned EHCP Co-ordinator to join our dynamic SEND team on a temporary basis. The role involves managing the delivery of comprehensive Education, Health, and Care (EHC) assessments and plans for children and young people aged 0-25. As the primary liaison for families, you will ensure that the EHC assessment process adheres to statutory deadlines while maintaining a child-focused approach. A thorough understanding of SEND legislation and effective collaboration with education, health, and social care services is essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities


  • Serve as the main contact for families during the EHC assessment process.
  • Oversee the coordination of EHC assessments from initial referral to finalization.
  • Draft high-quality Education, Health, and Care Plans.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory timelines for assessments and reviews.
  • Collect and coordinate input from education, health, social care, and other relevant professionals.
  • Conduct meaningful reviews of existing EHCPs.
  • Participate in mediation sessions and assist with Tribunal preparations as needed.
  • Support management with SENDIST Tribunal cases.
  • Engage children, young people, and families actively in the assessment process.
  • Maintain precise records and case files using electronic management systems.
  • Mentor and support less experienced EHCP Co-ordinators.
  • Contribute to service enhancements and the development of SEND policies.

Essential


Requirements

Requirements:

  • Degree-level education.
  • Extensive experience in coordinating EHCP assessments and reviews.
  • In-depth knowledge of:
    • Children and Families Act 2014 (Part 3)
    • SEND Code of Practice
    • SENDIST Tribunal Procedures
  • Experience working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
  • Proven ability to lead multi-agency meetings.
  • Skilled in preparing person-centred plans and reports.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and case management abilities.
  • Experience collaborating with education, health, and social care professionals.
  • Proficient in IT and record management.

Desirable


  • Teaching Qualification and/or SENCO Qualification.
  • Experience with Local Authority SEND operations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of parental and young people's rights under SEND legislation.
  • Experience working across a wide range of education, health, and social care services.
