Who Do We Want? 

Are you an early to mid-career simulation specialist who has significant experience with process and linear program (LP) simulations and looking for contract-basis flexible work with a dynamic global organization? 

Becht is seeking candidates with 1 to 5+ years of process simulation and candidates with 5 to 15 years of Linear Program (LP) expertise in the Refining and Petrochemical industries to add to the Strategic Planning & Process Solutions division on an hourly Advisor-Contract basis. The candidate would collaborate with domestic and international clients to build and use rigorous process simulations and / or LP models to assist in identifying and evaluating margin, improve and asset strategy opportunities as well as enhance Supply Chain tools. The candidate must perform Heat and Material Balance (HMB) calculations and summaries, build individual unit and site wide process simulation and LP models. The candidate will communicate results via Excel, Word, and PowerPoint summaries and reports, and assist project managers to drive and complete projects. This position is open for all global applicants and can be in-office or remote. 

Location

Remote work on a global basis with minimal travel.

This is a contract position. Work hours will vary depending on project workload and client requirements.

Responsibilities

Conduct and lead process simulation and Linear Program (LP) projects in the Refining and Petrochemical industries for projects within Strategic Planning and Process Solutions division. The role involves collaborating with domestic and international clients to build and use process simulations to assist in identifying and evaluating margin improvement and asset strategy opportunities as well as enhancing Supply Chain tools. Finally, the role involves performing Heat and Material Balance (HMB) calculations and summaries, building individual unit and site wide process simulation and LP models, creating Excel, Work, and PowerPoint summaries and reports, and assisting project managers to drive and complete projects.

Key activities include:

  1. Support ongoing technical activities as an advisor. 
  2. Ensure project deliverables and communications adhere to the expected high quality standards set with Becht
  3. Build and maintain trusting relationships with our clients. 
  4. Develop proposals to meet client needs. 
  5. Align behaviors to Becht culture and elements of "One Team, One Dream" and understand and leverage social styles to flex to the most effective methods to engage with clients and Becht staff + advisors.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. in Industrial, Chemical, or Process Engineering is required, with advanced business degrees highly desired.
  • Candidate should have 0 to 5 years of direct experience in construction and use of process simulations
  • The candidate for LP models should have 5 to 15 yrs of LP modeling experience 
  • Knowledge of refining and petrochemical technologies and economics are essential. 
  • Project management skills and experience are a plus. 

 Preferred Qualifications 

  • Strong working knowledge of Linear Program (LP) model programs, such as PIMS, GRTMPS, RPMS, PETRO, and others.
  • Strong working knowledge of commercial process simulation packages, such as Petro-SIM, HYSYS, Pro-II, and others.
  • Creative thinker who can collaborate with clients and internal teams.
  • Self-motivated with strong work ethic, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Supporting engineers by completing engineering analyses
