Aerospace Thermal Blanket Specialist/Craftsman/Sewing Technician

Aerothreads is Woman-Owned Small Business (WOSB) that specializes in the design, fabrication and installation of Multi-Layer Insulation (MLI) blankets. Our job is to design and fabricate custom MLI blankets that protect spacecraft hardware from the harsh environment of space. We are a team of makers, artists and engineers, most of whom have a background in textiles, fibers, fashion, or costume design. We believe that our success is attributed to the creativity and skill of our team members who bring their experience into the space industry. We take pride in our emphasis on quality and attention to detail as every stitch, fold and tape is mission critical.

Responsibilities:

• Bulk blanket layups
• Performance template processing
• Simple fabrications (examples include coupons, flat basic shapes, basic to no forming, thin layups, no netting)
• Basic MLI fabrications and mass measurements
• Providing support with other key tasks as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

• Must have the ability to solve problems with little discretion, seeking guidance in unexpected situations.
• Must have proficient communication skills (verbal, written, and listening)
• Must provide respectful and timely customer service.
• Must take initiative to perform routine tasks and be efficient and resourceful with time.
• Must be a strong team-player and possess the ability to be flexible, adaptable and collaborate on design, fabrication.
• Willingness to learn and accept constructive feedback is required.

Education/Certification Requirements:

A high school diploma and 0-1 years experience in the industry. This position may require the ability to travel.
