Job Summary
The Director of Warehouse Operations is responsible for the end-to-end performance, execution, and governance of all third-party logistics (3PL) partners, including warehousing, fulfillment, transportation support, and inventory management. This role ensures outsourced operations deliver against service, cost, quality, and compliance expectations while maintaining strong operational discipline and data integrity across the network.This leader serves as the primary owner of 3PL execution, acting as the bridge between physical warehouse operations, system data, financial accuracy, and customer service outcomes. Success in this role requires strong operational leadership, deep understanding of warehouse and inventory processes, and the ability to enforce standards with external partners.

Key ResponsibilitiesÂ
3PL Performance & Vendor ManagementÂ
Own day-to-day and strategic performance of all 3PL partners across warehousing and fulfillment operationsÂ
Establish, track, and standardize KPIs across all 3PL sites, including service levels, cost performance, inventory accuracy, and productivityÂ
Lead regular performance reviews, audits, and business reviews with 3PL leadershipÂ
Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and SLAs; drive corrective actions when performance falls shortÂ
Serve as the primary escalation point for operational, service, or execution issues impacting customers or inventory integrityÂ

Inventory Management & ControlÂ
Ensure accurate, timely, and consistent inventory execution across all 3PL-operated facilitiesÂ
Oversee and enforce cycle count programs, physical inventories, reconciliation processes, and variance investigation standardsÂ
Drive root-cause analysis and corrective action for inventory discrepancies, shrink, damage, and lossÂ
Monitor inventory health, including aging, excess, damaged inventory, and disposition processesÂ
Partner closely with Planning and Finance to validate inventory levels, resolve discrepancies, and support financial close and audit readinessÂ
Improve inventory visibility, traceability, and system integrity across WMS, ERP, and reporting platformsÂ

Operational Execution & StandardizationÂ
Drive standardization of operating procedures, reporting, and workflows across all 3PL sitesÂ
Ensure consistent execution of inbounding, storage, picking, packing, and shipping processesÂ
Lead root-cause analysis for operational failures and service defects and ensure timely corrective actionÂ
Support capacity planning, peak readiness, and contingency planning in partnership with Transportation and Planning teamsÂ

Data, Systems & ReportingÂ
Ensure accuracy and integrity of operational and inventory data provided by 3PL partnersÂ
Validate WMS and TMS outputs, reporting, and interfaces with internal systemsÂ
Establish clear, executive-ready dashboards and reporting that highlight performance trends, risks, and unresolved issuesÂ
Reduce reliance on manual workarounds and inconsistent reporting practices across the networkÂ

Cross-Functional CollaborationÂ
Partner with Supply Chain Planning, Transportation, Customer Service, Finance, and Distribution teams to align on inventory flow, service expectations, and operational prioritiesÂ
Translate operational realities into clear insights and recommendations for senior leadershipÂ
Ensure alignment between physical execution, system data, and customer-facing commitmentsÂ

QualificationsÂ
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related fieldÂ
8–12+ years of experience in distribution, logistics, or 3PL managementÂ
Proven experience managing outsourced warehousing or multi-site logistics networksÂ
Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory control processes, and WMS/ERP systemsÂ
Demonstrated ability to hold external partners accountable to performance standardsÂ
Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skillsÂ
Willingness to travel regularly to 3PL sitesÂ
