This is a remote position.

We are seeking an experienced Intermediate Java Developer with a strong hands-on development background and exposure to integration, databases, testing, deployment and troubleshooting.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, testing, deploying and supporting software solutions, with a particular focus on Java-based applications and complex integrations.
The role involves developing code against defined software requirements, producing software builds, conducting integration and functional testing, troubleshooting issues and supporting software solutions through deployment and post-implementation.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, build and maintain reliable and effective software solutions using appropriate Java frameworks and technologies.
  • Utilise Java/J2EE, Spring and Apache Camel to develop application functionality and integrations.
  • Work with development teams to translate business and technical requirements into effective software solutions.
  • Develop and work with data models and structures using Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL and PostgreSQL.
  • Write complex and optimised SQL queries to support application requirements.
  • Develop and maintain REST APIs and system integrations.
  • Work with messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ and ActiveMQ.
  • Develop and execute integration and functional testing, including API testing using tools such as Postman.
  • Record, investigate and resolve defects and software failures.
  • Troubleshoot and debug applications across development, testing and production environments.
  • Support the deployment, installation and configuration of software releases.
  • Work with Docker and Kubernetes as part of application deployment and containerisation.
  • Utilise Linux and Bash for scripting, system administration and server-related activities.
  • Use Git for version control and collaborative software development.
  • Participate in quality reviews, UAT and software testing activities.
  • Facilitate UAT sessions with customers and stakeholders where required.
  • Provide technical support and assist with resolving application issues.
  • Support software solutions post-implementation, addressing bugs and technical issues.
  • Produce and maintain appropriate technical and system documentation.
  • Contribute to integration test specifications, test results and system integration reporting.
  • Continuously develop technical knowledge and remain up to date with relevant technologies and industry practices.
  • Accurately estimate development effort and delivery timeframes.
  • Work effectively within a Scrum/Agile team, contributing to team deliverables and project objectives.

Key Technical Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant software development experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java, J2EE and Spring.
  • Apache Camel (CAMEL) experience would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong SQL and database experience, including Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL and/or PostgreSQL.
  • Practical experience with RabbitMQ and/or ActiveMQ.
  • Working knowledge of Linux and Bash, including scripting and server-related tasks.
  • Experience with J2EE containers and web servers.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes deployments.
  • Proficiency in Git and collaborative development practices.
  • Experience developing and working with REST APIs, with Postman experience for API testing.
  • Knowledge of CSS and HTML would be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Experience working within Scrum/Agile development environments.
  • Experience with software development, integration testing, deployment, troubleshooting and debugging.
  • Experience with Oracle PL/SQL and APEX would be advantageous where applicable.
  • Telecoms, VAS, BSS or OSS experience would be a strong advantage, particularly experience in environments involving complex integrations, messaging and distributed systems.
