Role Overview聽
Handles claims that involve the investigation of coverage, liability, damages and resolution of both non-litigated and litigated claim files for primary casualty lines. Emphasis on Artisan, small to mid-level Construction Defect and OL&T claims throughout the USA. Establishes a big picture view of the Casualty Claims coverage positions relative to the law and the industry. Adjusts claims (i.e., does not process claims).

Key Responsibilities聽
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Proactively handle complex claims from the First Notice of Loss (FNOL) to resolution of the claim while working with and advising business partners.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Analyze and draft coverage letters while properly communicating coverage positions to insureds, brokers and agents.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Assimilate all transfer cases and have current diary on all files.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 All files should have been worked on and brought current.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Understand and apply best practices to all files.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Maintain a 1-to-1 open-to-close ratio while reducing average indemnity and ALE.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Investigation: Conduct and proactively handle investigation of claims whenever possible. If outside vendors or experts are needed, direct and closely monitor their work.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Reports: Draft high-quality reports, set timely reserves or report to leadership cases wherein the reserves need to be set over your authority.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Provide technical advice to claims leadership and underwriting.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Mentor and educate less experienced adjusters.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Travel to conferences, mediations, and trials as is necessary.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Become Proficient on all systems
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Planning: Develop work plans, establish timelines, and set goals for assigned work and work unit; assign resources as needed; meet commitments on deadlines.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Communication: Communicate team or work unit results and recommendations with management and clients as appropriate.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Cost Management: Drive improvement in existing business processes and assist in the implementation of new processes; ensure unit performs work thoroughly in a cost-efficient manner and at a high productivity level.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Business Controls and Policies: Comply with all corporate policies and procedures; report any breakdown in controls to management; conduct all activities in a safe manner; ensure all the above are followed within assigned work unit.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 People Management: Plan, conduct, and supervise assignments; train assigned personnel and assign work; may assist with the review and evaluation of assigned personnel.

What You Bring聽
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, a related field, or the equivalent education and/or experience.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Doctor of Jurisprudence preferred but not necessary.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) or Associate in Claims (AIC) designation preferred.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Possess or attain State Adjusting License(s).
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 The successful candidate ideally will have a minimum of six years of experience handling construction defect cases throughout the United States. The candidate will have experience in Artisan claims as well as OL&T claim which could include New York Labor Law claims.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Deep knowledge of Construction defect claims.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Must be highly proficient in coverage and have handled coverage litigation on behalf of a carrier.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Must posses a high understanding of Risk Transfer and Recovery.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Proficient in Litigation Management with an emphasis on legal budget creation and review.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Knows the most effective and efficient methods to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Sound analytical skills, as well as strong decision-making and problem-solving aptitude.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Must be an exceptional communicator and able to make connections externally and internally.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Flexibility and a willingness to learn.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word).
