Position Profile
This position is responsible for our customer’s freight transport by way of pickups and deliveries.
Essential DutiesÂ
Operate safely and in compliance with all established HSSE policies and proceduresÂ
Inspect trucks and trailer(s) for defects through pre-trip, mid-trip and post-trip inspections and submit reports indicating their conditionÂ
Operate a variety of trucks and equipment adhering to posted speed limits and all other local, state, and federal laws and regulationsÂ
Maintain driver e-logs and e-maintenance logs according to State and Federal regulations when outside of 150 air milesÂ
Make customer pick-ups in a manner that reflects superior customer serviceÂ
Spot and park trucks to warehouse, chock wheels, and assist in unloading freightÂ
Maintain contact with dispatcher to receive accurate dispatch instructions and report safety hazards and/or incidents involving the driver or any company equipmentÂ
Ensure that cargo is secured for transport in vans and flatbeds according to the FMCSRs and hazardous materials regulationsÂ
Prepare bills of ladingÂ
Maintain a clean work environment including swept trailer, clean cab, windows, and mirrorsÂ
Determine discrepancies in paperwork and make correctionsÂ
Verify proper placarding when hauling HAZMATÂ
Perform basic vehicle maintenanceÂ
May perform Dock Worker duties as it applies to loading and unloading trailersÂ
May down stack and inside delivery at customer locationsÂ
May be required to complete emergency roadside repairs Â
Bulk Local Drivers transport Hazmat in bulk, to include bulkers, tankers, and ISO'sÂ
Bulk Local Drivers operate and maintain specialty equipment offsite to include hydraulic and pneumatic Â
Kodiak location - Load and unload Ferry and BargesÂ
Other duties as assignedÂ
QualificationsÂ
High school education or a GED equivalentÂ
Class A CDL driver’s license with all endorsementsÂ
HAZMAT endorsement within 90-days of hire and maintain HAZMAT, requiredÂ
Doubles certification preferred, but not requiredÂ
Experience with pallet jacks and lift gates, preferredÂ
One to three years of verifiable safe driving experience preferred, newly graduated drivers welcomedÂ
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesÂ
Must have excellent written, verbal and listening communication skillsÂ
Impeccable character, integrity, and unfailing initiative in a team environment.Â
Must be customer focused and represent Carlile in a professional and friendly mannerÂ
Must be able to prioritize daily tasks and assignmentsÂ
Must pay attention to detail and accuracyÂ
Must be able to multitask and have excellent time management skillsÂ
Must be able to drive in adverse weather conditions, ice, snow, rain, etc.Â

Competitive base hourly rate: ($28.00 - $39.50) depending on experience and qualifications +$5.00 Location Differential

Working Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions (snow, ice, rain, wind, etc.). The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vehicle vibration. The employee will also be exposed to high density road traffic as well as inter-city traffic.
