Join PaleoHacks as an Accountant supporting five wellness brands. QuickBooks certification required. AI-forward mindset a must.

Up to $2,800/month | Full-time | U.S. Central Time

PaleoHacks is one of the largest wellness platforms online, dedicated to helping people live healthier lives through paleo and keto nutrition. From cookbooks and meal plans to recipes and practical tips, we've supported millions on their health journeys.

We're a remote-first company with a small, talented team of 16 full-time team members spread across the globe. With five growing brands under our umbrella, we're now doubling down on data because better reporting leads to better decisions and even bigger growth. We're looking for an Accountant to join our Finance team and take ownership of accounting responsibilities across five U.S.-based e-commerce brands. This is not an entry-level bookkeeping position. We need someone who is exceptionally strong in QuickBooks Online, understands accounting beyond transaction processing, and can independently investigate discrepancies and maintain accurate financial reporting. You'll work directly with the Controller and bring an AI-forward mindset to improve efficiency and workflows.

Maintain accurate accounting records across multiple U.S. companies in QuickBooks Online

Perform detailed bank, credit card, merchant, balance sheet, and other account reconciliations

Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies rather than simply identifying them

✏️ Review transactions for proper account classification and correct accounting treatment

Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, reclasses, and month-end adjustments

Complete assigned portions of month-end close independently across five brands

Review AP and AR, reconcile bank and credit card accounts, and review merchant processor activity

Review inventory and COGS-related activity and perform revenue reconciliation

Assist with U.S. sales tax responsibilities, including reviewing state liabilities and reconciling sales tax payable accounts

Gather and organize financial documentation for audits and compliance reviews

Pull General Ledger and Trial Balance data and prepare supporting schedules

Work with third-party sales tax platforms and providers

This is a full-time role with a 4h overlap with standard U.S. Central Time business hours.

To be successful in this role, you need:

✅ 3+ years of professional accounting experience

✅ QuickBooks Pro-Advisor Certification

✅ Google Workspace experience

✅ Ability to be available for at least some daily overlap with U.S. Central Time business hours

✅ Comfortable leveraging AI and automation

Brownie points for:

⭐ Previous U.S.-based accounting experience

⭐ U.S. sales tax experience

⭐ Avalara/AvaTax experience

⭐ E-commerce accounting experience

⭐ Inventory and COGS accounting experience

⭐ Shopify, Amazon, PayPal, or other high-volume merchant/e-commerce platform experience

The ideal candidate brings exceptional attention to detail and understands why an account is correct, not just how to check items off a list. Strong Excel and Google Sheets skills are extremely important. You're comfortable stepping into a fast-moving finance environment, learning our businesses quickly, and taking ownership of assigned companies with minimal hand-holding once trained. Within the first several months, you'll independently navigate all five companies in QuickBooks Online, own assigned reconciliations, identify discrepancies before Controller review, and become a trusted second-level accounting resource within the Finance department.
