The successful candidate will support two research efforts, with special attention given to one of the two focus areas:

Focus Area #1 - Hydrogen Fueled Linear Generator (LGen) Demonstration Project – involving independent performance and emissions validation of real world performance of a 100%25 H₂ fueled 250 kW linear generator; hydrogen fueling and delivery systems; instrumentation and controls; data acquisition (DAQ); and combustion/emissions characterization.

• Focus Area #2 - HyPower: Demonstration of Offshore Wind Generated Hydrogen Usage for Domestic Heating and Power – involving system design, hydrogen generation and storage integration, safety critical operations, DAQ development, and performance verification of a modular hydrogen R&D platform.

The postdoctoral researcher will also serve as an experimental lead within the ACES Lab, mentoring students in hands-on engine research, emissions analysis, LabVIEW based control and automation, optical diagnostics, and technical writing.

Duties:

Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct experiments with advanced combustion and energy systems, involving hazardous and flammable chemicals.

Collect, analyze, and report on data from engine-based platforms, as well as industry-relevant journals and publications.
