Project Manager — Stage Rigging & Theatrical Systems

Location: Midwest
Employment: Full-time
Travel: Up to 50%
Compensation: $75,000–$85,000, based on experience

The Opportunity

A growing theatrical systems integrator is seeking a Project Manager to lead stage-rigging and drapery projects from specification and estimate through submittals, procurement, installation, and closeout.

This role is for someone with real theatrical rigging knowledge who can read drawings, coordinate people and materials, manage site conditions, and keep technically complex projects moving. You will work closely with installation, engineering, sales, suppliers, and other job-site trades to deliver safe, well-executed systems.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage project expectations, schedules, priorities, and deliverables from kickoff through completion.
  • Interpret and work from specifications, building plans, drawings, and riser diagrams.
  • Specify stage-rigging systems, drapery systems, and related equipment.
  • Create accurate equipment takeoffs, obtain supplier pricing, support labor estimates, and develop proposals and bids.
  • Coordinate submittals, shipments, installation schedules, and project documentation.
  • Communicate proactively with clients, suppliers, installers, engineering teams, sales teams, and on-site trades.
  • Identify and solve job-site challenges in partnership with installation, engineering, and sales.
  • Maintain and develop supplier relationships.
  • Apply company installation and project-delivery standards.
  • Support other project-management and estimating responsibilities as needed.

What You Bring

  • At least five years of professional stage-rigging experience.
  • Knowledge of theatrical rigging, drapery, and related equipment; field-installation experience is a plus.
  • Experience with project planning, budgeting, estimating, and scheduling.
  • Strong ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and job-site conditions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Acrobat or Bluebeam, and Vectorworks or AutoCAD.
  • Excellent organization, communication, attention to detail, and safety awareness.
  • A valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 50%.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work safely at heights, including on ladders, lifts, and stage grids.
  • Availability for occasional evening or weekend work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ETCP Theatre Rigger certification, or willingness to attain certification.
  • Experience with motorized hoists, rigging automation, or related control systems.
  • Experience integrating rigging with lighting, AV, or other performance systems.
