SEN Teaching Assistant – ASD Specialist 


Location: Bromley, South-East London
Salary: £90–£100 per day
Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary
Start date: 21 September 2026

A caring primary school in Bromley is looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support autistic pupils within its inclusive provision. This is a long-term opportunity to join a knowledgeable SEN team and provide thoughtful support that helps children communicate, participate and become more independent.

The SEN Teaching Assistant – ASD will work flexibly between individual and small-group support. The school is seeking someone who notices small steps of progress, follows agreed strategies consistently and responds sensitively to different communication and sensory profiles.

The role will involve:


  • Supporting learning through clear language, visual resources and structured routines
  • Preparing pupils for transitions and changes to the school day
  • Supporting communication, social understanding and emotional regulation
  • Making reasonable adaptations to tasks and the learning environment
  • Recording progress and contributing to support-plan reviews
  • Working closely with teachers, the SENCO and families

You will bring:

  • Recent experience supporting pupils with ASD
  • Understanding of sensory processing and communication needs
  • Patience, consistency and strong observation skills
  • Makaton, PECS or autism-specific training, desirable
  • The right to work in the UK
