JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Instrumentation - Using manual or mechanical means, cleans a variety of equipment and instruments at the appropriate level for patient care.  Stores or assembles instruments into trays and case carts for distribution.

  • Sterile Processing - Uses defined processes to disinfect and/or sterilize equipment and instruments according to the type of equipment and the manufacturer's instructions for use. May inspect, assemble and/or test equipment prior to storage or transportation.

  • Equipment Management - Accurately maintains documentation and ensures equipment is appropriately processed to ensure timely availability. Records and reports malfunctioning equipment and damaged instrumentation, scopes and endoscopes, and other supplies.

  • Quality and Process Improvement - Participates in quality assurance activities and process improvement projects.

  • Workflow - Contributes to the efficiency of daily workflow.

Performs high level disinfection (HLD) and/or sterilization of equipment and instruments for clinical and surgical procedures according to designated processing team.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • No directly related experience required

  • Prior hospital experience and/or Sterile Processing coursework is preferred
