We are looking for a senior SQLDatabase Administrator operator who does not just keep the lights on. Youdesign the wiring, own the uptime, and make things hum.
Role Overview:
We are seeking to employ a technicallyskilled MS SQL database administrator tobe responsible for developing, maintaining and optimizing SQL databases, aswell as translating business requirements into effective technicalsolutions. This position involvescomprehensive oversight of the SQL database environment, including its design,clustering, maintenance and upgrades, while collaborating with other technicalteams and developers to support the optimal functioning of systems.
As a SQL Database Analyst you will ensurethe end-to-end operational stability, performance, security and lifecyclemanagement of the organization’s Microsoft SQL Server estate. Focused onoperations, this role is accountable for maintaining high availability,recoverability, performance optimization and governance across production anddisaster recovery SQL environments.
Responsibilities Will Include theFollowing:
- Carry out daily SQL maintenance tasks toguarantee high availability, sufficient capacity, and optimal performance ofdatabase systems.
- Manage and regulate access permissions andprivileges to maintain security and compliance.
- Develop, manage, and test backup andrecovery plans in collaboration with the backup team.
- Ensure the proper functioning of storageand archiving procedures.
- Collaborate closely with IT projectmanagers, database developers, and software developers.
- Maintain regular communication withtechnical, application, and operational staff to uphold database integrity andsecurity.
- Oversee the commissioning andimplementation of new applications and the customisation of existing systems toensure all solutions are fit for purpose.
- System Availability and Maintenance
- Develop and maintain processes to supportdatabase effectiveness, including user access management, performancemonitoring, regular backups, replication strategies, and timely patching.
- Oversee incident management to ensuretimely resolution, escalating performance, security, and availability concernsas necessary, and working with database vendors to resolve complex issues.
- Design, build, and manage databasestructures for client applications, maintain data recovery, ensure databaseavailability, uphold data integrity, and meet performance and capacity planningstandards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science,Information Systems, or a related field
7–10 years working with Microsoft Serverand Microsoft SQL
Relevant certifications in Microsoft SQLor equivalent industry-recognized credentials
Has deep expertise in ensuring databaseavailability, implementing replication and planning disaster recovery
Highly skilled with SQL Always-OnAvailability Groups as well as Database Mirroring technologies
Experienced at handling multi-node SQLclusters
Well-informed about SQL Datawarehousesystems - Holds advanced skills in Microsoft SQLServer, including knowledge of all current versions
- Demonstrates strong understanding ofgeneral database concepts and how SQL leverages underlying infrastructure
- Integrates SQL with connectors like REST,SOAP, ODBC, JDBC, ODBO, and other MSSQL-supported protocols
- Exhibits solid analytical abilities forassessing and interpreting data
- Shows comprehensive understanding ofdatabase structures, theories, principles and industry best practices
- Proven ability to manage database securityand permissions efficiently.
- Capable of identifying, evaluating andmitigating risks linked to database management
- Has proficient knowledge of XML(preferred)
