DescriptionĀ 

RoleĀ Overview:Ā As a Technical LeadĀ of theĀ GalileoĀ team, you will be a senior individual contributor building andĀ optimizingĀ the infrastructure andĀ requiredĀ technology for all testing and evaluation workflowsĀ for both vehicle release andĀ autonomousĀ driving stack validation and verification.Ā ThisĀ includesĀ building andĀ optimizingĀ data processing pipelines for large scale analysis. Your role will include defining and shaping the technical vision and strategy to ensure alignment with broader companyĀ objectives,Ā designingĀ and implementing systems to support AV / ADAS development. You will drive software engineering best practices within the team and develop tools that promote these standards company-wide.Ā 

About the Organization:Ā TheĀ GMĀ AVĀ Simulation team builds world-class testing and analysis related products and technologies to enable GM to accelerate development of autonomous vehiclesĀ as well as general vehicle software development. Our customers range from AV developers understanding the effects of their code on vehicle behavior, data engineers using our data pipelines to buildĀ theĀ craziestĀ insightsĀ for various evaluation needs, to the release team tracking top-line performance metrics on releases.Ā AVĀ Simulation aims to deliver intuitive user experiences for robotics and AI engineers that accelerate GM towards a driverless future. Galileo is building the core infra and architecture to support testing at scale. As part of this team, you will build the infra andĀ requiredĀ techĀ for testĀ organization, test triggering, test analysisĀ workflowsĀ and the related data pipelines.Ā 

WhatĀ You’llĀ Do:Ā 

  • Act as technical architect,Ā help define technical vision and strategy, and ensure the technical direction of your team aligns with broader companyĀ objectives.Ā 

  • Design and implement systems capable of supporting simulating millions of miles of driving every day to predict on-road performanceĀ 

  • Improve and deliver reliable software through continuous integration, automated testing, and code reviews.Ā 

  • Drive software engineering best practices within your team and develop tools that promote these standardsĀ company-wide.Ā 

  • Develop and oversee top-tier software engineers within a dynamic, fast-paced, and inclusive settingĀ 

  • Help define, build, and embody GM engineering culture and principlesĀ 

Your Skills & Abilities:Ā 

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, or equivalent experienceĀ 

  • A demonstratedĀ track recordĀ of buildingĀ high qualityĀ softwareĀ and a focus onĀ theĀ customerĀ throughĀ operationalĀ excellenceĀ 

  • Broad exposure to the end-to-end product engineering stack, from frontend to infrastructureĀ 

  • Experience with SOA or microservice-based architectures, large scale distributed systems, and common cloud platforms like AWS/GCPĀ 

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.Ā 

  • Self-motivation and passion to lead,Ā mentor,Ā encourage best practices, and constantly improveĀ 

  • Familiarity with Python, Go, Node, React or other web development framework/languagesĀ 

  • PostgreSQL (or similar relational database) and data warehouse technologies likeĀ BigQueryĀ or Amazon Redshift.Ā 

  • Passion for self-driving technology and its potential impact on the worldĀ 

What Will Give YouĀ AĀ Competitive Edge:Ā 

  • A background in robotics, ROS, or the AV/ADAS industryĀ 

  • Scientific Analysis experienceĀ 

  • Experience with data pipelines/workflows supporting data scientistsĀ 

  • Experience buildingĀ high quality dev productivity tools.

  • Experience writing modern production C++ applicationsĀ 

  • Experience developing high-quality software under significant latency and performance constraintsĀ 

  • Experience developing or working with safety-critical codeĀ

Remote: This role is based remotely but if you live within a 50-mile radius of [Atlanta, Austin, Detroit, Warren,Milford or Mountain View], youare expected to report to that location three times a week, at minimum.Ā 

Relocation: This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.Ā 

ā€œCompany Vehicle: Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate. Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies.ā€
