info
  • Kunai is seeking a Technical Program Manager with over 5 years of experience in managing technical programs, particularly in payments, banking, or financial services.
  • The role involves overseeing the delivery roadmap for payments authorization and fraud initiatives while ensuring compliance with PCI and SOX requirements.
  • Candidates should have direct exposure to authorization switch systems and familiarity with fraud detection systems, alongside strong stakeholder management skills.
  • The position offers competitive compensation, with salaries commensurate with experience, and includes professional development opportunities and flexible work arrangements.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred, but equivalent experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.

Kunai builds full-stack technology solutions for banks, credit and payment networks, infrastructure providers, and their customers. Together, we are changing the world’s relationship with financial services. At Kunai, we help our clients modernize, capitalize on emerging trends, and evolve their business for the coming decades by remaining tech-agnostic and human-centered.

You'll drive the delivery of complex payments programs, keeping engineering, product, and business stakeholders aligned as systems like authorization switches and fraud platforms move from plan to production, all while keeping compliance and audit requirements on track.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Own the end to end delivery roadmap for payments authorization and fraud initiatives, from planning through go live
  • Coordinate across engineering, QA, risk, and business teams to keep dependencies visible and on track
  • Manage RAID logs, escalate risks early, and drive resolution before they become blockers
  • Translate technical constraints around auth switch behavior and fraud detection logic into plans stakeholders can act on
  • Run governance ceremonies including status reviews, steering committee updates, and release readiness checks
  • Own audit readiness for the program, coordinating with compliance and internal audit teams to keep documentation and controls evidence current
  • Track program health using data, not gut feel, and adjust scope or sequencing when the numbers say to
  • Partner with client stakeholders to manage expectations, priorities, and tradeoffs in real time, including around PCI and SOX control requirements
  • Identify process gaps across international and domestic auth switch workstreams and fix them before they compound
  • Keep documentation and reporting clean enough that anyone, including an auditor, can step in and understand where things stand

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 5+ years managing technical programs, ideally within payments, banking, or financial services
  • Direct exposure to authorization switch systems, domestic, international, or both
  • Familiarity with fraud detection or fraud management systems and how they interact with transaction flows
  • Experience working within PCI DSS and SOX control environments, including audit prep and evidence gathering
  • Experience running agile or hybrid delivery models across multiple technical teams
  • Comfort managing RAID logs, dependency mapping, and cross-team risk tracking
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including with senior client leadership and internal or external auditors
  • Nice to have: experience with payments modernization, migration, or platform replacement programs
  • A clear communicator who stays organized under pressure and asks good questions before assuming
