**This position is eligible to work a hybrid (3 days in office per week) schedule from the Des Moines metro**

Essential Functions:

  • Paid internship working in EMC’s corporate actuarial team

  • Collaborates with Actuarial Operations/Predictive Analytics team on projects

  • Performs basic analysis for Actuarial Operations/Predictive Analytics teams

  • Gathers information for analysis

  • Organizes data into spreadsheets and databases

  • Communicates results of analysis, project updates, and key findings to actuarial leaders

  • Develops understanding of insurance operations, statistical analysis, data management and computer programming

Education & Experience:

  • Actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, computer science or related major

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of statistics and probability

  • Strong analytical, investigation, problem-solving and critical thinking skills

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel & Power BI preferred

  • Familiarity with R, SAS, SQL &/or Python preferred

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Potential to Continue with EMC: Depending on business needs and individual performance, interns may have the opportunity to continue working with EMC in a part-time capacity following the internship.
