Demolition Estimator

Part-Time | 30 hours per week

Remote / Work from Home

$12AUD/hour (negotiable)


We are seeking an experienced Demolition Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive estimates for residential, commercial, and civil demolition projects.


The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing drawings, site information, scopes of work, and project specifications to determine labour, equipment, materials, disposal, subcontractor, and other project costs. The role will work closely with project managers, site teams, suppliers, and clients to ensure estimates are accurate, commercially viable, and submitted on time.


Key Responsibilities


Estimating & Take-Offs

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Review architectural, structural, civil, and demolition drawings.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Perform detailed quantity take-offs for demolition works.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Determine demolition methodologies, labour requirements, equipment, and project durations.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Estimate costs for demolition, dismantling, removal, excavation, and associated works.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Calculate quantities of concrete, steel, masonry, timber, fixtures, finishes, and other materials requiring removal.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Estimate waste volumes and disposal requirements.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Identify salvageable and recyclable materials where applicable.


Tender & Proposal Preparation

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Prepare detailed and competitive demolition tenders and quotations.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Review tender documents, scopes, specifications, and project requirements.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Identify inclusions, exclusions, assumptions, and potential risks.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Prepare clear cost breakdowns and tender summaries.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ensure estimates are completed accurately and within tender deadlines.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Assist with preparing variations and revised pricing.


Supplier & Subcontractor Pricing

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Obtain and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Request pricing for plant, equipment, waste disposal, trucking, recycling, asbestos-related services, and specialist demolition works.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Maintain up-to-date supplier and subcontractor pricing databases.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Negotiate pricing where appropriate to achieve competitive tender outcomes.


Cost & Risk Analysis

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Identify potential project risks and cost impacts.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Allow for site access, traffic management, temporary works, protection works, and other project constraints.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Consider disposal fees, tipping charges, transportation, equipment mobilisation, and labour requirements.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Review previous projects and historical costs to improve estimating accuracy.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Conduct estimate reviews before submission.


Demolition Scope

Experience estimating some or all of the following would be highly desirable:

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Residential demolition

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Commercial building demolition (hard requirement)

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Industrial demolition (hard requirement))

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Partial demolition

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Structural demolition

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Internal strip-outs (hard requirement)

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Concrete demolition

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Structural steel removal

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Building dismantling

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Excavation and removal

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Waste removal and disposal

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Recycling and salvage

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Concrete cutting and sawing

Required Qualifications & Experience


聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Previous experience as a Demolition Estimator, Construction Estimator, Quantity Surveyor, or similar role.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Demonstrated experience estimating demolition or construction projects.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Strong understanding of demolition processes, labour, plant, equipment, and disposal requirements.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and engineering drawings.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Strong quantity take-off and cost estimation skills.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Excellent numerical and analytical abilities.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Strong attention to detail.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Experience with Australian demolition and construction projects.


Preferred Experience


聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Knowledge of Australian demolition regulations, safety requirements, and industry practices.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Experience with residential, commercial, industrial, or infrastructure demolition.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Experience working with Australian contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Understanding of asbestos and hazardous-material considerations.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Experience estimating projects involving complex site access or staged demolition.

The ideal candidate is an experienced Demolition Estimator who understands not only how to calculate quantities and costs but also how demolition projects are actually executed on site.


They should be comfortable reviewing drawings, determining demolition methodology, calculating labour and equipment requirements, obtaining subcontractor pricing, allowing for waste and disposal costs, and producing accurate tenders for residential, commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
