Salary Range: $17.48 – $17.50 per hour

General Purpose

The Housekeeping/Laundry Aide plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment for residents, staff, and visitors at Hanford Post Acute. This position ensures all facility areas are free of obstacles, odors, and debris, contributing to the overall health, comfort, and well-being of those in our care.

Essential Duties

  • Clean and maintain public and common areas including lobbies, restrooms, drinking fountains, and floors

  • Clean, sanitize, and maintain resident rooms and bathrooms

  • Perform laundry duties including washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens and resident clothing as assigned

  • Wipe down handrails to ensure they remain free of dust and debris

  • Remove dirt, dust, and food from walls, mirrors, windows, light fixtures, towel bars, and dispensers

  • Empty trash cans and replace liners as needed

  • Sweep and mop floors throughout the facility

  • Follow all safety protocols, including use of caution signage and proper storage of cleaning chemicals

  • Operate cleaning and laundry equipment according to manufacturer instructions

  • Maintain housekeeping carts, laundry equipment, and storage areas in a clean, organized, and sanitary condition

  • Report resident safety concerns immediately to the Director of Housekeeping, Administrator, or Director of Nursing

  • Notify the Director of Housekeeping when supplies need replenishment

  • Demonstrate excellent customer service and a positive, professional attitude

  • Manage time effectively and complete assigned tasks efficiently

  • Work independently or as part of a team to meet facility cleanliness standards

Supervisory Requirements

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

  • Previous housekeeping or laundry experience in a healthcare or long-term care setting preferred

  • Ability to follow instructions, policies, and safety guidelines

  • Strong attention to detail and cleanliness

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to read and understand procedure manuals and instructions

  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division

  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule-based instructions

Physical Demands

  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, and reaching

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds

  • Repetitive motions including sweeping, mopping, wiping, and folding laundry

  • Regular use of cleaning and laundry equipment

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond promptly to facility needs

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily within a healthcare facility. Noise levels are generally low to moderate. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
