Job Summary:

The Software Engineer Intern works as part of the Product Development team to design, build, and enhance modern web applications that support FacilityForce's portfolio of solutions. This role is intended for students who are seeking hands-on, real-world experience.

Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist in developing new application features based on specifications provided by Product Management and senior engineers

• Implement UI components using React and supporting backend services using Express / Node.js

• Participate in AI-first development, including using AI-assisted coding tools, prompt-driven workflows, and automation to accelerate development and testing

• Troubleshoot and fix bugs identified by QA, customers, or internal testing

• Write and maintain unit tests to improve code quality and coverage

• Participate in peer code reviews and incorporate feedback from senior developers

• Support technical documentation efforts, including code comments and internal

documentation

• Attend Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives) and contribute actively

• Review and provide feedback on Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) under

guidance

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience

• Currently enrolled or recently completed in a Bachelor's degree program in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field

• Coursework or project experience building web applications

• Exposure to debugging and troubleshooting application issues

• Academic, personal, or internship experience testing web applications (manual or automated)

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills

• Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced development environment

• Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team

• Basic understanding of Agile/Scrum development methodologies

• Working knowledge or coursework experience with:

o JavaScript/TypeScript

o React

o Node.js/Express

• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows, including:

o Using AI tools to accelerate coding, debugging, and refactoring

o Prompt-driven development and iterative refinement of code

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with RESTful APIs

• Familiarity with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or similar)

• Exposure to CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions)

• Familiarity with web accessibility best practices

• Interest in enterprise SaaS products and large-scale applications

• Final year student or recent graduate preferred
