Welty Energy & Infrastructure (WE&I) is looking for a Distriution Engineer to join our Distribution Engineering team!

About the Role:

The Distribution Engineer, Energy plays a critical role in the planning and development of electrical distribution systems within the construction industry. This position is responsible for creating detailed designs and layouts that ensure efficient, safe, and reliable energy distribution to meet current and future demands. The role involves close collaboration with engineers, project managers, and field teams to translate technical requirements into practical design solutions. The Distribution Designer will also ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies throughout the design process. Ultimately, this position contributes to the successful delivery of energy infrastructure projects that support sustainable and resilient power distribution networks across the United States.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical distribution system design within the construction or energy sector.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD or MicroStation.
  • Strong understanding of National Electrical Code (NEC) and other relevant industry standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documents.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Experience with distribution system modeling software such as CYME or SKM PowerTools.
  • Familiarity with renewable energy integration and smart grid technologies.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and construction processes.
  • Experience working on large-scale utility or infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed electrical distribution system designs including single-line diagrams, layout drawings, and equipment specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate design requirements and resolve technical challenges.
  • Review and interpret project specifications, codes, and standards to ensure compliance in all design work.
  • Coordinate with construction and field personnel to provide design clarifications and support during project execution.
  • Maintain and update design documentation and records to reflect changes and as-built conditions.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and load flow analyses to optimize distribution system performance.
  • Participate in project meetings to communicate design progress, challenges, and solutions.
  • Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software and other engineering tools to produce accurate and efficient designs.
