Job DetailsJob Location: GRI Towers Texas Inc - Amarillo, TX 79108Position Type: Full-Time General Description / Objective  The NDT (Nondestructive Testing) Inspector will be responsible for performing inspections, testing and/or evaluating materials and products that are manufactured, looking for differences in characteristics without destroying the usability of the product*. Customer requirements and standards, as well as internal quality standards and legal requirements, using NDT methods, such as UT, VT and MT. Also, using dimensional inspections such as Photogrammetry and Easy Laser.    Roles and Tasks  Conduct material tests using UT, VT and MT methods to identify any material flaws, incomplete welds, corrosion, or gaps that may affect performance, quality or safety.   Analyze and interpret test results after conducting various NDT specific tests.    Develop, update and issue documentation related to any tests conducted to report to Quality Manager and other members of the management team.   Ensure accuracy of tests results and prevent damage to materials by properly calibrating and maintaining equipment.   Support Quality and testing by developing processes and procedures for independent work, the work of other NDT Technicians and teams. This can include policies, manuals, training activities or demonstrating proper techniques for using machinery and maintaining test data.    The NDT Inspector will perform this evaluation based on customer requirements and standards  Perform inspections as defined in the Production Quality Plan, maintaining and updating related files and records, notifying all departments about eventual no conformities  Perform inspections on all incoming materials, keeping records and forms updated  Complete inspections on finished products  Execute measurement of flanges and complete the related forms  Give information to the organization about defective materials, at all stages of production, delivering inspection reports and forms  Distribute and communicate results of the inspections to all personnel involved  Work closely with Production, notify any no conformity of the process or defect of products at all manufacturing phases, stopping the process when required  Adopt, communicate and spread company Quality policies  Control the appearance, dimension, resistance as well as quality of welding of the products at different production stages and fill the related forms  Adapt and maintain all the equipment used for Quality checks  Obey to rules related to Waste management, trying to decrease the amount of waste and to treat waste properly      These roles and tasks are only enunciative but not limitative. Additional work-related tasks and responsibilities can be assigned to this position as per job content requirement and/or Supervisor’s request.    Profile / Professional Competencies / Job Requirements  Education Requirements:   Relevancy of experience will be taken into account in lieu of education/degree. 5+ years of hands-on experience with a High School Diploma/GED and professional certificates.   Professional certificates as described under specific knowledge  Specific Knowledge:   Minimum 3 years of experience as an NDT Inspector in an industrial manufacturing environment performing product testing.  NDT Level II in VT, MT, UT  *** Methods Required:  UT: shear and longitudinal waves, for weld joints at least.  MT: Hand yoke, applicable in welds at least.  VT: Direct inspection, applicable in welds. For USA positions are allowed CWI according to AWS.  Eyes test: According to ISO 9172 (color blind is not allowed)  ISO 9712 Certification in VT, MT, UT.  Ability in supervising operators’ compliance to Codes, Standards and Procedures  Detail oriented, organized, structured person; hands-on, able to communicate efficiently with shop floor operators; able to anticipate, detect and solve problems as well as to suggest new solutions; able to influence    Qualifications Languages:   Fluent English    IT / Technical Knowledge:    Basic computer skills.    Minimum Experience Required:   Recent NDT testing experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably 3+ years     Internal Candidates and/or Employees from other GRI factories, are considered competent for this job if they have at least 2 years of experience on similar processes/positions.    Physical and Safety requirements:  • The ability to lift 20/40/80 pounds regularly  • The ability to move, climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push, pull, lift, grasp and walk around the manufacturing facility without restrictions  • The ability to stand upright on feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.  • The ability to respond quickly to sounds  • The ability to move safely over uneven surfaces or in confined spaces  • The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations  •The ability to work in extreme weather and wear all required personal protective gear correctly all day  •The ability to withstand noise and dust in manufacturing plant and warehouse environment.    All employees are expected to act in a safe manner at all times and ensure that those around them do not put themselves or others at risk. Working according to State, Federal, OSHA and local health safety and environmental standards, rules and regulations is mandatory; this includes but not limited to GRI internal company safety standards (IPRL), environmental and waste internal procedures.     Preferable Requirements  Bilingual (English Spanish)  Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook)  Knowledge of Welding operations (and related equipment) highly preferred  Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing and Time of Flight Diffraction (PAUT/TOFD)
