The Role

Under the direction of the Working Shop Supervisor, the CNC Roll Grinder Operator is responsible for:

Sets up CNC grinder from drawings.
Selects proper tools.
Makes all necessary fin adjustments.
Operates grinder in the finish grinding operation of roll bodies.
Uses measuring instruments to check pieces as required for size or finish.
Unloads finished pieces with the aid of a floor operated overhead crane.
Change water and removes grindings as required.
Performs minor repairs or assists in major repairs as necessary.
Reports defective materials or faulty equipment to the supervisor.
Lubricates equipment and maintains machine and area in a clean and orderly manner.

Job Specific Competencies

Ability to run CNC and manual controls.
Skilled with micrometers, calipers, indicators, gauges, and basic hand tools.
Proficient in reading blueprints.
Ability to operate an overhead crane.

Education and Experience

1 to 3 years of machine shop experience.
Knowledge of CNC Controls.
High school diploma or equivalent.
