What you’ll need to succeed as a Project Manager, Operations (Labor Planning) at XPO
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent related work or military experienceÂ
- 1 year of experience in project management, operations or human resources, preferably in logistics or manufacturing
- Project management experience including responsibility for project plans, timelines, risks, deliverables and stakeholder communicationÂ
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Preferred qualifications:
- PMP certification
- Experience in transportation, logistics, service center operations or less-than-truckload freightÂ
- Experience with labor planning, labor management systems, workforce planning tools or HR systemsÂ
- Experience with Microsoft Project, Smartsheet or another project and portfolio management platformÂ
- Knowledge of process improvement, change management and operational implementation methodologiesÂ
- Experience developing training materials, standard work and executive-level presentationsÂ
- Self-motivated, results-oriented work style with sound judgment in complex or urgent situationsÂ

What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Create and manage cohesive project plans with clear scope, milestones, critical paths, task dependencies, resource needs, risks, issues and mitigation actions.Â
- Partner with business process owners and cross-functional stakeholders to identify, define and prioritize labor planning opportunities that support staffing, service, productivity, cost, quality and safety objectives.Â
- Coordinate the design, development, testing, pilot and implementation of labor planning tools, system enhancements, processes and programs.Â
- Translate operational needs into business requirements, process flows, user stories, wireframes and implementation plans in collaboration with business and technology partners.Â
- Use operational KPIs, reporting, data mining and analysis to scope opportunities, monitor project performance, identify gaps and support data-driven decisions.Â
- Manage projects through completion, track deliverables and expected benefits, and escalate roadblocks, bottlenecks or decisions requiring leadership support.Â
- Facilitate project meetings, document decisions and action items, and provide concise status updates to project teams, field stakeholders and senior leaders.Â
- Develop and execute change-management plans, including stakeholder communication, training, adoption support and reinforcement activities.Â
- Serve as an active trainer and change agent for labor management initiatives, ensuring solutions are practical, scalable and sustainable for field operations.Â
- Build strong working relationships across Engineering, Operations, Human Resources, Technology, Safety and other centers of excellence.Â
- Conduct post-implementation reviews and audits to evaluate adoption, effectiveness, savings and opportunities for continuous improvement.Â
- Develop presentations that clearly communicate project status, solution components, risks, business impact and recommendations.Â
- Support other project managers and team members as business priorities require.Â
