FTS has an opportunity for an Engineer – Space Based Communications in Arlington, VA.

 

The Engineer – Space Based Communications will provide critical technical and programmatic support to space-based communications and test planning and execution.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the test lead for major program objectives, including running test readiness reviews and working with contractors to review and act on data from test events

  • Provide overarching support to the program by attending regular calls, major reviews, and partner meetings, as well as drafting presentations and memorandums

  • ~10% CONUS travel

 

 

Required Skills/Qualifications

  • TS/SCI

  • BS STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) in engineering discipline

  • 5+ years of relevant experience

  • Experience working with transition partners such as the Air Force, NASA, Space Force, NRO, and SSC

  • Working knowledge of space-based communications architectures, including ground entry points, radios, and the integration of hardware and software

  • Experience in space-based test planning and execution, including the definition of test objectives and measures of performance

  • Experience leading test working groups for fully integrated space systems with multiple payloads and diverse government, industry, and lab partners

  • Ability to lead Mission Integration Working Groups twice a year across 15-20 unique organizations, including defining security baselines, coordinating agendas, and reviewing test plans
