Responsibilities of the Arlington Community Learning  Instructor

 
Come Prepared and Organized
  • Plan lessons and activities that are well-organized, engaging, and easy for students to follow.
  • Prepare handouts, presentations, demonstrations, and other materials ahead of time so each class runs smoothly.
  • Be ready to adjust instruction as needed to meet the interests and needs of the class.
Create an Engaging Learning Experience
  • Teach course content in a way that is clear, interactive, and enjoyable for adult learners.
  • Encourage participation, questions, discussion, and hands-on learning whenever appropriate.
  • Help students feel comfortable trying new things and sharing their experiences.
Communicate with Enthusiasm
  • Explain concepts clearly and patiently.
  • Foster a positive classroom atmosphere where learners feel welcomed, respected, and supported.
  • Promote the idea that learning can be enjoyable, rewarding, and a lifelong journey.
Keep Track of Attendance
  • Take attendance at each class session and submit records as required.
  • Help ensure that class rosters remain accurate and up to date.
Have the Right Tools Ready
  • Make sure classroom materials, supplies, and equipment are ready before class begins.
  • Check that any technology or special equipment needed for instruction is working properly.
  • Notify program staff of any supply or classroom needs in a timely manner.
Be a Positive Representative of the Program
  • Arrive on time and ready to teach.
  • Treat students, staff, and fellow instructors with professionalism and respect.
