THE OPPORTUNITY

At J Street, the Leasing Consultant is often the first person a future resident meets—and an important part of the experience long after move-in. This role is about more than showing apartments. It is about building relationships, understanding what matters to each prospect, and helping people find a community that feels like home.

As a key member of the onsite team, you will drive leasing activity, support occupancy and community performance, and help create a resident experience that reflects the J Street brand in every interaction.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

Create the First Impression

• Greet prospects, residents, and guests with professionalism, energy, and genuine hospitality.

• Build relationships with prospective residents, understand their needs, and guide them through the leasing experience.

• Conduct engaging community and apartment tours that connect features, amenities, and lifestyle benefits to what matters most to each prospect.

Drive Leasing & Follow-Through

• Respond promptly to phone, email, online, and walk-in inquiries and maintain consistent follow-up throughout the prospect journey.

• Use strong sales and closing skills to convert qualified leads into leases and contribute to community occupancy and leasing goals.

• Accurately process rental applications, verify qualifications, and execute lease agreements in accordance with Fair Housing requirements and company policies.

• Maintain accurate and timely lead, lease, and resident information in the property management and CRM systems.

Welcome Residents Home

• Coordinate a smooth, welcoming move-in experience, including apartment readiness, welcome materials, and follow-up communication.

• Support resident retention by responding to questions, renewal needs, and concerns with care, professionalism, and appropriate follow-through.

• Participate in resident events and community-building initiatives that strengthen connection and the resident experience.

Tell the Community Story

• Support property marketing campaigns, outreach efforts, local employer and community partnerships, and social media engagement.

• Help maintain the presentation of the leasing office, model homes, amenities, and tour route so every visit reflects the quality of the community.

• Stay informed about community features, availability, pricing, specials, and local-area highlights so you can confidently communicate the value of living at the property.

Partner for Performance

• Work closely with the Community Director, Service Manager, and onsite team to support occupancy, revenue, resident satisfaction, and customer-service goals.

• Communicate prospect and resident feedback, leasing trends, and recurring concerns that may help the team improve performance.

• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling resident, prospect, and company information.

• Ensure leasing practices comply with Fair Housing, ADA requirements, and J Street standards.

WHAT YOU BRING

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

• 1–2 years of leasing, sales, hospitality, or customer-service experience preferred; multifamily housing experience is strongly desired.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-first mindset.

• Confidence building relationships, following up consistently, and asking for the lease.

• Ability to work toward leasing and sales goals while maintaining a high-quality prospect and resident experience.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Yardi, OneSite, CRM, or similar property-management platforms preferred.

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

• Availability to work weekends and non-traditional hours as required by the community.

• Ability to move throughout the community and model/apartment homes to conduct tours and support onsite activities.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate records, and respond with urgency in a fast-paced onsite environment.
