Social Media and Influencer Marketing

Job Description:

Are you the person friends turn to when they want to know what’s happening on TikTok, Instagram, or the latest social platform? Do you enjoy spotting trends, follow creators you admire, and find yourself curious about why certain content connects? If you’re enthusiastic about social media and influencer marketing, naturally proactive, and eager to learn, we’d love to hear from you.

Weber Shandwick is seeking an Associate, Social + Influencer Strategy to join our team in Washington, DC. This is an entry-level opportunity for someone early in their communications career who wants to grow in the social and influencer space. You’ll work alongside supportive, collaborative teammates on a range of client work, contributing curiosity, a can-do attitude, and care for the details as you build your skills. You do not need to have built social or influencer programs before; we’re looking for genuine interest, initiative, and a willingness to learn.

This is a client-facing role, so an approachable, thoughtful communication style and the ability to work well with different people are important.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and proactive teammate who is excited to get involved, ask questions, and take initiative. You keep up with social platforms and creators because you’re genuinely interested—not just because it’s part of a job. You’re organized, dependable, curious about how social and influencer work supports communications goals, and comfortable learning in a fast-paced environment. You may have gained relevant experience through internships, an early-career role, campus activities, personal projects, or other hands-on opportunities.

POV: YOU’RE OUR NEW ASSOCIATE, SOCIAL + INFLUENCER STRATEGY

Your days will include a mix of research, collaboration, coordination, and learning. You might help gather social and creator insights, track emerging conversations, support content and campaign planning, develop client-facing documents, organize project details, or help pull together performance updates. You’ll contribute to social and influencer projects while getting guidance from colleagues, building confidence with clients, and learning how great programs come together.

TL;DR — You’re curious about social and influencer marketing, bring positive energy and follow-through, and are ready to learn and grow with a collaborative team in Washington, DC.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support social and influencer projects, from research, content ideation and planning through execution, coordination and reporting.
  • Help research platforms, audiences, creators, cultural moments, and emerging trends; share useful observations with the team and apply them to client projects.
  • Assist with social content calendars, creator research, campaign materials, and client-ready presentations.
  • Help coordinate project timelines, approvals, deliverables, and day-to-day details across internal teams and partners.
  • Contribute ideas and thoughtful questions, and take initiative to move assigned work forward.
  • Support social listening and performance reporting by organizing information and helping identify key takeaways.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across social, influencer, creative, strategy, media, and public relations teams.
  • Build client communication skills by supporting meetings, follow-ups, and day-to-day account needs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

We welcome candidates who are early in their careers and excited to learn. You do not need to have independently developed or managed social or influencer programs to be considered.

  • 1–2 years of relevant experience in communications, marketing, social media, public relations, or a related area; internships and other hands-on experience may count.
  • A genuine interest in social media, creators, influencer marketing, and digital culture.
  • Proactive approach: you look for ways to help, follow through on commitments, and raise questions when you need context.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail, with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Clear, thoughtful written and verbal communication skills.
  • A collaborative mindset and comfort working with people across different teams and backgrounds.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, a positive attitude, and eagerness to learn from feedback.
  • Familiarity with major social platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, Threads, or X.
  • Interest in learning responsible uses of generative AI for research, ideation, and analysis.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

These are helpful, but not required. Interest and potential matter more than having already built programs.

Experience assisting with content creation, social channels, creator research, or campaign coordination.

Exposure to social listening, analytics, or publishing tools—or enthusiasm for learning them.
