Raw Material/Procurement Specialist Needed- Atlanta, GA
CKS Packaging is seeking a Raw Material/Procurement Specialist to lead supplier management, inventory optimization, sourcing strategies, and cost-reduction initiatives across multiple operational categories. This role supports 1 location by driving procurement standardization, supplier performance, inventory efficiency, and operational savings.
Responsibilities
- Purchase and procure raw materials, packaging, components, and other production-related supplies
- Monitor raw material inventory levels and maintain adequate supply to support production schedules
- Analyze production forecasts and material requirements to determine purchasing needs
- Create and manage purchase orders and track orders through delivery
- Communicate regularly with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, lead times, delivery schedules, and potential supply issues
- Negotiate pricing and purchasing terms when appropriate
- Identify potential material shortages and proactively develop solutions to prevent production downtime
- Work closely with Production, Planning, Warehouse, Quality, and Accounting departments
- Maintain accurate purchasing, inventory, supplier, and material records within the company ERP/MRP system
- Review supplier performance, including on-time delivery, quality, pricing, and responsiveness
- Assist with inventory reconciliation and cycle counts as needed
- Monitor raw material usage and identify opportunities to reduce waste and excess inventory
- Resolve discrepancies involving purchase orders, invoices, deliveries, and received materials
Qualifications
- Previous experience in procurement, purchasing, raw material planning, supply chain, inventory control, or a related manufacturing role preferred
- Manufacturing experience strongly preferred
- Experience purchasing raw materials and production-related materials
- Working knowledge of inventory management and supply chain processes
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems preferred
- Strong Microsoft Excel and computer skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- High attention to detail
