Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Obstetrics Registered Nurse (OB RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in Atlantic, Iowa.

This position is ideal for an RN with recent obstetric nursing experience who is comfortable caring for patients throughout labor and delivery, postpartum, and recovery.

The nurse should also be flexible and willing to float to the Medical-Surgical unit when there are no active obstetric patients.

Candidates must have at least 1 year of recent OB nursing experience and current American Heart Association BLS certification.

Key Responsibilities

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Provide direct nursing care to obstetric patients throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Perform ongoing maternal and fetal assessments.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Monitor labor progression and identify changes in maternal or fetal condition.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Monitor fetal heart rate patterns and uterine activity.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Assist physicians and other providers during vaginal deliveries and obstetric procedures.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Provide immediate postpartum care to mothers.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Monitor maternal vital signs, bleeding, pain, and recovery after delivery.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Provide routine newborn support and education within scope of practice.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Administer medications, IV fluids, and other treatments according to provider orders.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Educate patients and families regarding labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, newborn care, and discharge instructions.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Participate in shift handoffs and interdisciplinary communication.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Follow hospital safety, infection-control, and obstetric-care standards.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Respond appropriately to maternal or newborn changes in condition.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Float to the Medical-Surgical unit when there are no obstetric patients and provide nursing care within demonstrated competency.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have:

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Active Registered Nurse license meeting Iowa practice requirements

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Minimum 1 year of recent Obstetrics RN experience

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Current Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Experience with labor and delivery

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Postpartum nursing experience

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Recovery experience

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Strong maternal assessment skills

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ability to work effectively in a small or flexible acute-care environment

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Willingness and ability to float to Med-Surg when needed

Float Requirement

When there are no active obstetric patients, nurses are expected to float to the Medical-Surgical floor.

Candidates should therefore be comfortable providing basic acute-care nursing support outside the OB department and adapting to changing patient census and staffing needs.

Schedule Requirements

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Three 12-hour shifts per week

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 36 hours per week

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Weekend and holiday coverage may be required based on department scheduling.
