Deputy Opinion Editor

Job Title: Deputy Opinion Editor 
 
The Advocate | Times-Picayune is in search of a Deputy Opinion page editor to help plan, coordinate and edit content for our Opinion section. As Louisiana's leading news outlet, the commentary we publish has statewide and regional reach and must appeal to a broad audience in all the markets we cover.

In this position, we are seeking to hire a skilled professional with a deep knowledge of and interest in public policy, an eye for detail and familiarity with the journalism we do. The successful applicant will bring fresh ideas and perspectives to our Opinion coverage. The job reports to the Opinion page editor.

Job responsibilities may include any of the following:

-- Creating and executing plans for coverage of specific events, like elections

-- Planning and scheduling editorial board meetings

-- Editing copy from columnists and assisting in their development

-- Coordinating guest column submissions

-- Planning and executing digital content strategy, including short-form videos or podcasts

-- Writing editorials or other content for the web

-- Assisting with digital promotion strategies and SEO
