The Export Compliance Manager will support global trade compliance activities related to production, non-production, and intangible exports. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable U.S. and international export control laws and regulations. 

Key activities include conducting restricted-party screenings, reviewing and approving export transactions, classifying products and technologies, determining licensing requirements, preparing and submitting export license applications, and resolving shipment and customs-related issues. The Export Compliance Manager will also support regulatory inquiries, internal investigations, voluntary disclosures, corrective actions, and broader trade compliance initiatives. 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Audit and Compliance, Legal, Customs, Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain, external service providers, and government agencies to ensure compliance with U.S. and international export control regulations
  • Review and approve export transactions and supporting documentation
  • Conduct restricted-party and sanctions screenings
  • Classify products, software, and technologies under applicable ECCN and HTS classifications
  • Evaluate export licensing requirements and manage the preparation and submission of license applications
  • Manage export documentation and recordkeeping requirements
  • Oversee Electronic Export Information filings through the Automated Export System (AES)
  • Monitor and resolve export shipment, customs, and regulatory issues
  • Develop, maintain, and update export compliance policies, procedures, and work instructions
  • Conduct or support internal export compliance audits and risk assessments
  • Assist with regulatory inquiries, investigations, voluntary disclosures, and corrective action plans
  • Provide practical export compliance guidance and training to internal and external stakeholders
  • Identify potential compliance risks, escalate concerns, and support the implementation of effective mitigation strategies
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, international trade, law, engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of relevant export compliance, global trade, customs, or regulatory experience
  • Strong knowledge of export controls, economic sanctions, restricted-party screening, ECCN and HTS classifications, deemed exports, licensing processes, customs compliance, regulatory correspondence, and trade compliance risk mitigation

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctions requirements
  • Experience preparing export license applications, commodity classification requests, voluntary disclosures, and responses to regulatory inquiries
  • Experience conducting internal audits, investigations, and corrective action activities
  • Experience supporting export compliance within the automotive, manufacturing, engineering, technology, or aerospace industry
  • Familiarity with export compliance systems, AES filings, and automated restricted-party screening tools
