Position Overview

Join Gemma’s dynamic construction team! The Civil Field Engineer role is a field-based position that will perform engineering duties in planning, designing, and overseeing construction. We are looking for an individual with civil experience in simple or combined-cycle power plant construction, industrial projects, large-scale commercial projects, or equivalent experience. Our ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to ethics and integrity, the ability to work independently or in a group to meet deadlines, a dedication to safety, and a strong work ethic. This role will be based in either Ward County or Reeves County, TX, depending on which project you are assigned to, and will require you to relocate to the area of your assigned project. You may also be required to relocate to the area of any future projects that you may be assigned to.


Job Responsibilities

  • Extensive understanding of the scope of work, contract, plans, and specifications. Identify any discrepancies and obtain resolution.
  • Interface & collaborate with Discipline Superintendents.
  • Generate Requests for Information (RFIs) and collaborate with Design Engineer.
  • Review test reports for specification compliance and provide to Quality Control.
  • Document change order requests.
  • Monitor field changes and provide redline drawings of the as-built conditions.
  • Review & ensure implementation of approved ECNs.
  • Provide & review test reports sent to QC.
  • Track & record lessons learned.
  • Review reports for compliance including subcontractor installation & testing reports as well as turnover documentation.
  • Collaborate with superintendents to identify potential problems and provide solutions.
  • Collaborate with superintendents on management of subcontractor including schedule progress tracking & compliance with subcontract agreement.
  • Assist superintendent in requisition of materials, and deal with suppliers for specification compliance.
  • Ensure federal, state, and local compliance codes, compliance of drawings, and permit drawings including SWPPP and NPDES.
  • Assist with scheduling of building inspectors and code officials.
  • Responsible for quantitative tracking and reporting of work progress weekly with project controls.
  • Responsible for coordination with Superintendents for generation of 3-Week Look-Ahead schedules.
  • Responsible for preparing permits required to perform daily civil functions.
  • Experience in the use of GPS/Survey Equipment desired.
  • Coordinate & resolve discrepancies with Employees’ time with payroll.

Desired Experience and Qualifications

  • 2-3 years’ experience working on power plants, industrial projects, or large-scale commercial projects.
  • Field Engineering experience required.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field is a plus, but not required.
  • Must be able to read & understand drawings related to Civil engineering including grading, concrete, and rebar.
  • Must possess a strong work ethic and be willing to do what it takes to get the job done right.
  • Must demonstrate commitment to ethics and integrity.
  • Must be passionate about and dedicated to high standards of safety and quality.
  • Must possess organizational skills, time management skills, and attention to detail.
  • Must be a team player with good interpersonal skills.
  • Must have strong computer skills in Microsoft programs.
