Company Description

Renesas' Performance Computing Power business unit is seeking a Director of Test Engineering to lead a global team developing test solutions for digital power controllers, Smart Power Stages, power modules, and integrated power solutions supporting data center and AI infrastructure.

You will own the test strategy end to end — from early DFT engagement through characterization, qualification, production release, and sustaining — and be accountable for delivering test solutions on time, at quality, and at cost.

Job Description

  • Lead a worldwide organization of test managers, architects, and engineers across multiple regions; build capability, scale capacity, and develop the next generation of technical leaders
  • Define and execute the test strategy across wafer sort, final test, characterization, and qualification, driving standardization of methodologies, hardware architectures, and ATE platforms
  • Own test cost: drive test time reduction, multisite scaling, and hardware efficiency; review test entitlement and align cost targets to business objectives
  • Engage early in product planning to shift DFT, characterization, and production readiness left in the development cycle
  • Partner with Design, Product Engineering, Reliability, Quality, Operations, and OSAT partners throughout the product lifecycle
  • Drive rapid resolution of yield excursions, test escapes, and customer returns, with disciplined root cause and corrective action
  • Support capital planning and capacity expansion to ensure manufacturing readiness ahead of ramp
  • Lead adoption of automation, data systems, and AI-enabled engineering practices to accelerate development

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of semiconductor test engineering experience, including 8+ years leading engineering teams and managers
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline; Master's preferred
  • Proven record developing ATE solutions for analog, mixed-signal, or power management products and releasing them into high-volume manufacturing
  • Demonstrated success leading geographically distributed teams across multiple sites and time zones
  • Strong command of characterization, qualification, yield analysis, and production test methodology
  • Experience with SPEA, ETS, V93K or Cohu platform experience is a plus
  • Track record of driving test cost reduction and organizational transformation
  • Excellent executive communication and cross-functional leadership skills

What Success Looks Like

Predictable NPI execution and on-time production releases; achievement of test cost and margin targets; strong yield ramp and excursion response; capacity ready ahead of demand; retention and growth of top engineering talent.
