Production Line Lead - Austin, TX

(1st and 2nd shift positions available)



Position Summary

The Production Line Lead is responsible for directing and coordinating the daily activities of a team of production operators on an assigned cosmetic manufacturing line. This role ensures that production targets are met efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and quality standards. The Line Lead serves as the first point of contact for operators and acts as a liaison between the production floor and supervision.


Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead, guide, and motivate a team of 5–15 production operators during assigned shifts
  • Assign tasks and station positions at the beginning of each shift based on production schedule and individual skill sets
  • Monitor team performance throughout the shift and address productivity gaps in real time
  • Provide on-the-job coaching and training to new and existing team members
  • Communicate shift objectives, priorities, and any schedule changes to the team

Production Operations

  • Oversee the setup, operation, and changeover of assigned production line(s) for cosmetic products (e.g., filling, labeling, capping, packaging)
  • Ensure production runs according to the daily schedule 
  • Monitor line efficiency and escalate downtime or bottleneck issues to the supervisor
  • Coordinate with maintenance, quality, and warehouse teams to maintain line flow

Quality & Compliance

  • Enforce adherence to GMP, SOPs, and company quality standards at all times
  • Perform or oversee in-process quality checks (fill weights, label placement, torque, etc.)
  • Identify and quarantine non-conforming product; complete deviation reports as needed
  • Ensure all batch documentation and logbooks are filled out accurately and in real time

Safety & Housekeeping

  • Enforce all safety policies and PPE requirements on the line
  • Conduct daily pre-shift safety checks of equipment and workstations
  • Ensure the line area is kept clean, organized, and compliant with 5S standards
  • Report near-misses, incidents, or hazards immediately to supervision

Reporting & Communication

  • Complete shift production reports and downtime logs
  • Communicate line status, issues, and handover notes to the incoming shift lead
  • Participate in production meetings and escalate recurring issues

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification a plus
  • 2–4 years of experience in a cosmetics, pharmaceutical, or consumer goods manufacturing environment
  • Prior experience in a lead, team lead, or supervisory capacity preferred
  • Solid understanding of GMP a plus
  • Ability to read and follow batch records, SOPs, and work instructions
  • Basic computer skills (data entry, production tracking systems)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to lead by example
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus depending on team composition

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for the duration of a shift (7 hours)
  • Ability to lift up to 30–40 lbs occasionally
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels

Work Schedule

  • Full-time; shift-based (1st and 2nd shift possible)
  • Overtime and weekend availability may be required occasionally based on production demand
