Deli Clerk

POSITION SUMMARY: To help Wheatsville be the Friendliest Store in Town through excellent, friendly and upbeat customer service.  Prepare and serve a variety of food products, maintain a clean and organize deli counter area and complete all shift duties.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare and serve menu items according to portion guidelines
• Work efficiently to handle heavy rushes
• Ensure that all product is in sellable condition and meets quality standards 
• Ensure that all deli cases are stocked and merchandised nicely (bakery, full serve, self-serve)
• Maintain deli and food storage areas in sanitary, orderly condition, meeting Health Department standards
• Comply with Health Department Regulations including head covering, proper dress, drinks and hand washing
• Participate in quarterly inventory
• Assist in maintaining customer areas 
• Other tasks as assigned by management

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as department manual
• Ability to prioritize tasks, multi-task
• Balance friendliness with efficiency, and maintain focus
• Great communication skills and receptive to feedback
• Food Handler’s Certification required

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Previous food service experience
• Experience or interest in natural foods and cooperatives

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

• Required frequently: standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, bending, reaching, lifting up to 50 lbs.  and environmental exposure to extreme temperatures (coolers, ovens, freezers etc.)
