Job DetailsJob Location: Bakersfield, CA 93311Position Type: Volunteer Canteen Volunteer Canteen Volunteers play an important role in creating a welcoming, caring, and positive experience for blood donors after their donation. By offering a kind greeting, refreshments, encouragement, and a simple thank-you, volunteers help donors feel appreciated, supported, and motivated to donate again. Canteen Volunteers support HCBB’s mission to save lives and maintain a strong local blood supply by showing compassion, respect, teamwork, and service to every donor. What You’ll Do Welcome Donors Greet donors with kindness and thank them for helping save lives. Serve Snacks and Drinks Provide snacks and beverages to donors after their donation. Create a Positive Experience Offer excellent customer service and help donors feel comfortable and appreciated. Support Donor Safety Observe donors for any early signs of a reaction and notify HCBB staff immediately if assistance is needed. Keep the Area Welcoming Help maintain a clean, organized, and inviting canteen area. Represent HCBB’s Mission Demonstrate HCBB’s values through compassion, respect, teamwork, and service. Canteen VolunteerTo become a Canteen Volunteer, applicants must: Be at least 18 years old. Complete the required volunteer orientation session. Successfully pass a background screening. Provide their own transportation to the service site. Be comfortable around blood collection and blood products. Follow HCBB policies and procedures. Maintain strict confidentiality. Demonstrate excellent customer service. Maintain a positive and encouraging attitude. Commit to a minimum of six months of volunteering. Volunteer Status / No Compensation This is an unpaid volunteer role. Individuals serving in this position are not employees of HCBB and are not eligible for wages, overtime, employee benefits, or other employment-related compensation. Participation is voluntary and intended to support HCBB’s community service mission.
