Rehabilitation Aide – Per Diem

Bakersfield Post Acute is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and organized Per Diem Rehabilitation Aide to support our physical, occupational, and speech therapy teams.
This non-clinical position assists with resident transportation, treatment-area preparation, equipment management, supplies, scheduling, and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, works well with others, and is committed to helping residents throughout their recovery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment areas, equipment, and supplies for physical, occupational, and speech therapy sessions as assigned.
- Follow resident-specific goals, precautions, and safety instructions when completing assigned setup duties.
- Transport and prepare residents for scheduled therapy sessions under the direction of therapy staff.
- Assist with resident transfers only as directed and in accordance with training and safe resident-handling procedures.
- Clean, disinfect, organize, and properly store rehabilitation equipment.
- Maintain a safe treatment environment by following infection-control, safety, and equipment-maintenance protocols.
- Communicate regularly with therapists, supervisors, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals.
- Coordinate with therapists regarding resident scheduling needs.
- Direct all clinical questions to the supervising therapist.
- Promptly report unusual occurrences, resident concerns, equipment problems, and safety issues.
- Complete and submit logs, tracking forms, and other required documentation accurately and promptly.
- Help monitor the timely completion and filing of rehabilitation documentation as directed.
- Participate in denial-management activities to help ensure claims and appeals are processed according to company procedures.
- Monitor inventory and assist with ordering office and clinical supplies.
- Attend team meetings, rehabilitation training, and in-service programs as directed.
- Assist with approved exercise, educational, and community-related programs.
- Maintain the confidentiality of resident and company information.
- Follow facility dress-code, attendance, safety, and professional-conduct requirements.
- Maintain positive and professional relationships with residents, families, coworkers, and healthcare partners.
- Perform additional rehabilitation support duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in rehabilitation, skilled nursing, healthcare, caregiving, or resident transportation preferred.
- Ability to work a flexible per-diem schedule based on facility needs.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Sound judgment and a strong commitment to resident and workplace safety.
- Ability to read and understand policies, procedures, schedules, and technical instructions.
- Basic computer and documentation skills.
- Compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented attitude.
Physical Requirements
This position requires frequent standing and walking, occasional sitting, and the ability to reach, push, pull, lift, and manipulate equipment. The employee may occasionally be required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The position may involve exerting more than 100 pounds occasionally, more than 50 pounds frequently, or more than 20 pounds regularly when safely moving residents or equipment. Employees must follow all training, facility procedures, and safe resident-handling practices. Reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities.
