3 months Contract with a Local Authority
Job Purpose
As a Maintenance Joiner (Multi-Skilled), you will deliver responsive repairs, void property repairs, planned maintenance, and housing refurbishment works across Charnwood Borough Council's housing stock. The role focuses on providing high-quality joinery and multi-trade repairs while delivering excellent customer service to tenants and residents.
Key Duties/Accountabilities
- Carry out a wide range of joinery repairs and maintenance works.
- Complete responsive repairs and void property refurbishment works.
- Undertake door, frame, lock, skirting, flooring, kitchen, and general carpentry repairs.
- Carry out upgrade and replacement works within occupied and void properties.
- Perform multi-skilled repairs alongside joinery duties.
- Undertake basic associated trade works including tiling and finishing repairs where required.
- Assess disrepair issues and determine the most appropriate repair solution.
- Complete repairs within specified timescales and quality standards.
- Liaise with tenants, residents, contractors, and other trades.
- Accurately record works completed using PDA/mobile devices.
- Order, collect, and manage materials required for repairs.
- Ensure work areas are left clean, safe, and tidy.
- Adhere to Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
- Assist with out-of-hours and emergency repairs when required.
- Support and supervise apprentices and trainees.
- Identify and report safeguarding concerns where appropriate.
Essential Experience Required
Significant experience as a Joiner/Carpenter.
Experience within:
- Responsive Repairs
- Void Property Repairs
- Social Housing Maintenance
- Property Maintenance
- Responsive Repairs
Experience carrying out:
- Door repairs and replacements
- Kitchen fitting and repairs
- Flooring repairs
- General carpentry and joinery works
- Property refurbishment works
- Door repairs and replacements
Experience working in occupied residential properties.
Experience using PDA/mobile job management systems.
Experience ordering and managing materials.
Strong customer service experience.
Ability to diagnose repair requirements and work independently.
Essential Qualifications Required
- NVQ Level 2 in Joinery/Carpentry or equivalent.
- City & Guilds Joinery qualification or equivalent.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Ability to undertake multi-skilled trade activities.
Additional Information to Note
- Working hours: 37 hours per week.
- Location: Southfields Offices, Loughborough, Leicestershire.
- Own vehicle may be required.
- Participation in out-of-hours service may be required.
