Position Title: Maintenance Planner

Plant Location: Bath, PA

About the Role: 

Keystone Cement Company is seeking a Maintenance Planner who is responsible for the effective execution of all maintenance work control processes. This position reports to the Methods Manager for the efficient and effective use of planning and scheduling all resources to conduct maintenance activities which result in minimum downtime and maximum productivity. To fulfill these responsibilities, the Maintenance Planner is empowered to prioritize work, develop job plans, define parts and material, define crafts and skills, and engage the proper resources to develop a safe, effective, and efficient work control plan. In addition, the Planner provides equipment-related expertise and technical guidance on improving preventive maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit knowledge of and ensure compliance with all safety regulations. Independently identify and correct safety hazards. Perform area inspections and accident investigations as required. Cooperate with all external inspectors as necessary.
  • Lead planning meetings to discuss the current week’s work as well as the plan for the following week or any future work that is relevant for the meeting. Also discuss work order backlogs to bring open work orders to the forefront and to close any duplicate work orders.
  • Prepare the daily job assignment sheet. Ensure needed spare parts and equipment are available.
  • Plan and schedule all aspects of day-to-day maintenance activities (mechanical, electrical, and preventative maintenance). Assist, as needed, the Corporate Outage Planner with aspects of winter or any other planned outages. Prepare bid sheets for jobs that will be contracted. Complete Subcontracting Notice forms and present the form to the union prior to bringing in external resources to meet the requirements in the labor agreement. Work with the warehouse supervisor to ensure all necessary spare parts are or will be on hand prior to the outage start date.
  • Maintain work order system for all planned plant repairs and outages by entering work orders, updating with pertinent tracking information, including but not limited to hours, parts, material costs, and names of people involved with the work. Close out work orders as they are completed.
  • Become an expert with SAP, participating in outside training, if necessary, to meet your job accountabilities as well as to provide support or training to others, when help is needed.
  • Become proficient with Microsoft Office Project Software or project planning software, constructing thorough project plans, updating data daily or when changes occur.
  • Assist the maintenance department in preparing the maintenance budget for the upcoming year based on the upcoming year’s preventative maintenance and outage plan.
  • Write Safe Job Procedures for large and/or complex jobs that include all safety procedures, spare parts required, mobile equipment required, etc.
  • Become familiar with our predictive maintenance programs (vibration and oil analysis) and use this data to help plan the preventive maintenance program. For example, if vibration analysis indicates coupling misalignment on a particular machine, plan a check of the alignment on the next repair day.
  • Maintain equipment lists and histories, parts, motor and gearbox cross-references and usage reports. Prepare summaries of projects and work orders as needed to analyze maintenance and report labor costs. Keep the KPI data for maintenance and issue on a weekly and monthly basis as requested.
  • Prepare parts usage reports and recommend adjustments in inventory levels and provide accounting with the inventory reports. Prepare purchase requisitions for inventory items above the maximum level for specific jobs requiring this need.
  • Assist in maintaining Purchasing and Maintenance files relating to planning.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • Technical school or college degree in related field required. Consideration will be given to work experience.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in industrial manufacturing setting as a maintenance planner/coordinator or maintenance supervisor.
  • Experience using a computerized maintenance management system required.
  • Intermediate level MS Office applications required.
  • An understanding of, and commitment to, the highest standards of industrial workplace safety, environmental compliance, dependability, and professional workmanship is essential.
  • Effective communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Successfully interact in a team environment.
  • Read and interpret documents such as SOPs, safety rules, maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • Physically inspect plant properties where climbing steps, ladders, and physical exertion at high elevations is required.
  • Wear the required MSHA safety equipment, including respirator (when needed).
  • Work in dusty, noisy, high temperature environment in all types of weather conditions.
  • Cement manufacturing work experience preferred.
