GHD has an excellent opportunity for an Environmental Field Technician to join our team on a full-time, 40-hour/week basis, based out of our Baton Rouge, LA location. This role is a “hands on” field position.Â

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:Â
ResponsibilitiesÂ
- Inspection, maintenance, and gauging  of environmental groundwater wellsÂ
- Ensure work is completed in a safe and compliant manner with respect to applicable OSHA, GHD, and client standardsÂ
- Generate quality field notes and enter collected field data electronically to database programsÂ
- Perform site housekeeping inspections with attention to detail in GHD’s operational areaÂ
- Operations and maintenance, troubleshooting, oversight, and repairs of remedial equipment including groundwater recovery wells, groundwater treatment unit, and all associated physical and mechanical componentsÂ
- Operate groundwater treatment systems, including pumps, filters, and chemical dosing equipment, to ensure optimal performanceÂ
- Maintain accurate records of system operations and maintenance activitiesÂ
- Provide health and safety/construction oversight of contractorsÂ
- Work directly with clients and contractorsÂ
- Conduct vegetation maintenance using heavy equipment (i.e. tractor with bushhog attachment) and weed eatingÂ
- Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate risks and to safeguard the environment and the well-being of self and others.Â
The ideal candidate will have the following skills:Â
- Ability to perform field work Â
- Ability to communicate across diverse occupational rolesÂ
- Commitment to safety applying a behavior-based safety culture in all aspects of the jobÂ
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and computer proficiencyÂ
- Must be proficient with standard hand and power toolsÂ
- Physically capable of working in non-ideal conditions, such as hot/cold temperatures, wet weather, outside, and around loud equipment and traversing rough terrainsÂ
- Ability to be a self-starter, proactive, flexible, great teammate, willing and able to work on a wide variety of tasks with minimal directionÂ
- Ability to analyze field readings, data, and operating parameters to optimize system operationsÂ
EducationÂ
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Â
ExperienceÂ
- 0-3 years of previous industrial work experienceÂ
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER is a plusÂ
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving recordÂ
- Experienced operator of heavy equipment is a plusÂ
