2.1 Safety Requirements & SSDD Ownership

  • Analyze needs and inputs from other SSDDs & Critical review of TSC/FSC requirements to verify their consistency, completeness, and applicability to the relevant software scope.
  • Evaluate incoming safety requirements status (OK / Partial / Cross-Functional) and follow up on partial or rejected items.
  • Define and formalize Software Safety Requirements (SSRs), including the safety mechanisms required to protect ASIL A/B critical data.
  • Own and maintain the SSDD (Software Safety Design Document) as the reference safety deliverable, ensuring traceability to TSC/FSR requirements.

2.2 Critical Path Analysis (CPA)

  • Perform Critical Path Analysis to determine whether evolutions in safety-relevant software modules impact critical data flows.
  • Trigger CPA upon any change affecting a safety-relevant ASWC.
  • Determine whether corrective or preventive action is required based on the outcome of the analysis.

2.3 Safety Mechanisms Definition & Implementation Support

  • Define the safety mechanisms needed to protect critical data whenever an impact is identified through CPA or internal analysis.
  • Support and coordinate with SW Architects for the correct implementation of safety mechanisms in the ASWC (Application Software Component).
  • Review implementation choices against safety requirements to confirm design intent is respected.

2.4 Verification – SIL Testing

  • Define and/or oversee SIL (Software-In-the-Loop) test activities verifying that safety requirements are correctly and completely implemented.
  • Confirm test results are compliant with the SSDD before closing the safety activity for the module concerned.

2.5 Internally-Initiated Safety Analysis

  • Independently of issue-driven requests, perform a software-level safety analysis upon delivery of each critical ASWC.
  • Verify that implemented changes do not adversely affect critical data.

    • Experience with Model-Based Design (MBD).
    • Good understanding of C code development and review for embedded software applications.
    • Experience with SIL (Software-In-the-Loop) testing and verification methods.
    • Ability to perform critical path analysis on software changes.
    • Strong cross-functional communication skills to interface with Safety Managers, SW Architects, and Functional Safety teams.
