POSITION SUMMARY  

 The Banquet Server performs food and drink serving duties at dinners and special events while interacting with guests in a positive, friendly and efficient manner. Each banquet server’s primary objective is to show our guests such a marvelous time that they will want to return again and again. May require independent judgment in the disposition of routine matters without direct supervision. Will work under the direct supervision of either the Banquet & Events Manager or the Catering and Event Sales Manager. 

  

REQUIREMENTS, ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES   

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:  

  • Obtains service area assignment at the beginning of each shift. 

  • Welcome and greet guests. 

  • Makes all of our guests feel comfortable and lets them know that the server is there to personally take care of them. 

  • Answers questions about the food, beverages and other banquet/event functions and services. 

  • Sets up for events by putting out tablecloths and place settings, arranging table placement and setting up a buffet. 

  • Carries plates of food on trays and serves guests. 

  • Keeps glasses filled; removes each round of plates and replenishes utensils. 

  • Performs cleaning tasks and breakdown of service. 

  • Maintains high standards of safety and cleanliness. 

  • Adheres to grooming and appearance standards. 

  • Maintains clean service areas. 

  • Monitors and observes guests’ dining experience and ensures guests are satisfied with the food and service. 

  • Responds promptly and courteously to any requests. 

  • Is always ready and willing to assist fellow servers as situations arise. 

  • Is always ready and willing to assist dining room assistant with clearing and resetting tables. 

  • Maintains a clean and orderly area. 

  • Answers questions and explains rules and regulations when appropriate 

  

 

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)  

  • Provides support for the department 

  • Must adhere to all Arkansas State ABC and POA rules and regulations when serving alcohol 

  • Basic mathematical skills: ability to make change  

  • Basic reading and writing skills  

  • Must be able to work in a standing position for prolonged periods of time (up to 5     hours) and be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift ups to 25 pounds  

  • Basic computer skills and ability to operate a point-of-sales system  

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills  

  • Basic understanding of dining room and service procedures and functions  

  • Multi-task oriented  

  • Must be able to upsell food and beverage items  

  • Knowledge of workplace safety procedures

The employee is frequently required to walk, sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee occasionally lifts and carries tubs and cases weighing up to 25 pounds. The employee must frequently communicate with Dining Room Assistants, Servers, and other staff. The employee is occasionally exposed to hazards including, but not limited to, cuts from knives, slipping, tripping, falls and burns; frequent exposure to smoke, steam, elevated temperatures, humidity, extreme cold; frequent contact/immersion of hands in water, sanitation solutions, meat products, poultry products, seafood and produce items and frequent washing of hands
