Primary Purpose and Function

Provide direct patient care and manage caseload of adolescent and adult psychiatric patients from a family/primary care perspective in partnership with THIRA’s psychiatric prescribers and all other medical personnel.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in Nursing
  • Licensed prescriber in State of Washingtonwith active DEA registration
  • Two years (2) minimum experience as a nurse practitioner(residency year experiencemay apply)  
  • Prior experience as a family nurse practitioner experience 
  • One-year minimum required experience administering medications, including knowledge in substance abusetreatment
  • Demonstratedproficiencyin the use of Microsoft Office and theability to use various softwareprograms
  • Must be able to successfully pass a comprehensive criminal background check (Federal and state)
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, weekends & holidays asneeded

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in Residential IOP, PHP
  • Experience working witheating disorders

PATIENT CARE 

  • Conduct physical exams to check patient health; order and interpret tests such as CMP,CBCand other routine tests.  
  • Review patient medical histories, diagnose, conductappropriate treatment, and prescribe medication whenneeded 
  • Conduct weekly patient follow up exams and document patientprogress 
  • Collaborate with attending Psychiatrist/Medical Director and multidisciplinary clinical team to create treatment plans and implementrecommendations  
  • Conduct coordination of care with patients outside providers 
  • Communicate with outside providers and patient family membersregardingmedical/medication information asneeded 
  • Provide phone-based on-call support to staff and/or patients as needed (based on on-call rotation)  
  • Support inutilizationreview of all patients and interface with third-party payers to advocate for patientreauthorizations 
  • Follow up on any medical/medication related issues asneeded
  • Provide medical support as needed acrossall ofTHIRA’s programs (PHP, IOP & Residential) 
  • Maintain infection control standards within ourfacility 
  • Provide medical support as needed across all the programs inclusive of residentialprogram

Working Environment

Work is performed primarily indoors, with both artificial and natural lighting.  Equipment includes standard office equipment, i.e., computer, telephone, fax machine, copier, printer, and scanner. Physical demands include sitting, walking, standing, bending over, repetitive use of hands, and lifting up to 25lbs. Position requires close contact with all THIRA Health staff and mental health patients. Hours and days can vary within a Saturday through Friday work week.
